i am still having problems trying to figure out what is wrong with my 4 wheel drive in my 2007 tacoma. i have taken it to two shops and they we4re unaible to figure it out as well. when i engage my truck into four wheel drive the light flashes but truck does not engage. i can hear and i checked that the front actuater is working. i followed the wiring and found nothing, but i am starting to lean towards in being a broken wire.....any suggestions?

Is your transfer case actuator (not your front ADD) working?

4wd high or low range? If high, have you tried driving about 20 feet with the wheel turned to get it to engage?

If low...well, that's a bit more complicated. Is your truck a manual or automatic?

Did you try driving slow for 20 feet or so with the light flashing?

My 2006 tacoma did what you described it was the actuator.
Toyota put a new one on (warranty).
4WD flashed would not go into 4HI.
    Eventually 4LO stopped working too.
Luckily it worked one more time (4LO) before failing to get me out of a jam.
    The part was pricey.
I hope you can figure it out without having to buy one.

when i put the truck in four low it starts to flash and beep. im going to look into it a bit more tonight, see what i can find. i believe the front drive shaft is locking though. and unfortunetly toyota screwed me over with the warranty so i will be paying for it. but need to get it fixed where i live.

4Lo won't kick in unless you're in 4Hi, fully stopped, and in neutral. It will stop flashing/beeping when engaged.

Since you're having trouble getting into 4Hi, it stands to reason that 4Lo won't engage as well
