285/75R16 on stock OR rims with a 3" lift?

Stupid question i know, i tried searching

Will 285/75r16 tires fit my truck on the stanrdard offroad rims? I have a 3" icon lift already and will be installing DSM UCAs with these tires.

The most you would need would be spacers to clear the UCA's - but you should be fine.

you will need additional backspacing with those tires, wheel spacers or aftermarket wheels. you'll also have to cut some of the wheel well so you won't rub. i can't bring myself to use wheel spacers so i went with a slightly smaller tire, 265-75-16s on my stock 16" TRD Baja wheels (photos in my profile) so they are 22s, 285-75-16 are 33s.

 

The factory wheels have too much back spacing for that wide of a tire. You will most likely rub the upper control arms. If you want to keep the stock wheels. Then look into getting some spidertrax hub centric wheel spacers. Also you will have to trim some plastic from the inner fender well and lose the mud flaps.

 

So if i go with 16" rims and 4.5" backspacing on the same 285/75r16 tires i'm good?

I do not want to trim the fender, really want to avoid doing that

 

Even with spacers or rims with more backspacing, you will still have to trim I believe.

that can't be true, i see a ton of these with 3" lifts that don't have trimmed fenders

 

I may not be right regarding your particular setup, but I know there are a lot of lifted trucks that still require a little bit of trimming.

Those trucks will rub at full lock. You'll definitely have to trim a little to avoid rubbing.

 

When we say trim we are talking about the little black inner fender. A razor knife will easily cut off the big black square in front of your front tires. That is what needs to be cut.

Trim this if need be, the rear near cab.

Does anyone know what size spacer i would need for the stock rims? I would like to use the stockers on the winter setup

 

1" is whats needed I believe, but some go up to 1.5", personal preference I believe. Let someone else verify before you make a purchase though.

It's really not a big deal, but even with a 3" lift, you will still need to trim some plastic.
