Sucks about the rain and cold! Rain is ok but when it is cold on top of that, things go down hill real fast. lol Glad you had a decent time!
can I get some more info on these? who makes them? I cant read the name on the pic.

Yea baffin...I was going to get some Sierra Designs down booties, but they had bad reviews. I got these for less than $30 shipped...make sure you order large if you get them, they tend to run small!

Figured I would giver a new review on some of the gear I have after having used it a few times. Keep in mind, I abuse the ever loving shit out of my gear.

The Sven saw is great! Cuts like butter! I have the smaller blade and it is plenty big enough. Every once in a while, the blade tweaks itself. No biggy though.

The pack.. Kelty Tioga 5500. This is e had since starting this hobby about 6-7 years ago. Still in great shape. Fabric has not had any issues.

My Jetboil systems. Let me say this... I LOVE the Jetboil system...except in colder temps when you have to sleep with the propane cylinders... I have cooked about 10 meals and boiled about 10 cups of water between the cup system and the cooking pot just on one of the canisters. I do have the smaller canisters and you can see they are fairly pricey at $5/ canister. Not bad though for how many meals you can cook.

Not sure if I have talked about these on here or not. They are my YakTrax. Got them at Dicks for about $20. They have literally saved my ass dozens of times walking through the snow or on ice. Highly recommend even if you don't use them for hiking.

This is the headlamp I use. It is OK at best. It was cheap so I cant expect much. It is kind of bulky and heavy and when wearing it, there isn't a little cover on the bottom so you have a glare right in the tops of your eye balls which gets really old really fast. It is fairly bright though. It beats destroying or losing the $30+ pairs.

I always carry my leatherman. It is pretty much permanently attached to the bag as I keep one on that and one in my car. The bag on the other side of that is my REI 100 Liter Duck's Back backpack cover. Works beautifully and if I remember right, it was pretty cheap. I am able to stretch it from top to the bottom of the frame and still have room if I am carrying my sleeping bag inside the OR stuff bag.

Outdoor Research stuff bag. This is another one of my original items. It has worked wonderfully and have had no issues with it leaking.

This is great. While friends are sitting there pumping away trying to fill their nalgeans up, I just scoop some water up and start drinking!!! :D I do with I got the larger bottle though. I have found the the little indent in this bottle hits the filter inside so it is a little difficult to squeeze

Pacific Outdoor air mattress. This thing I am not too sure if I like it or not. Sometimes I love it, sometimes, I absolutely hate it. lol. You have to make sure you tighten the valve down after blowing it up and are super light headed otherwise it will leak air and you will eventually wake up on the ground. What is nice about it is the size. You can see my Monarch chair in the background. It is almost the same size (a little shorter) that the monarch chair.

This chair is GREAT! takes a little bit to get it folded back up and back in the bag correctly but it is well worth it. It is crazy light as well! It doesn't look comfy at all at first glance, but as soon as you sit in it, throw your legs out and find the center of balance, you may very well fall asleep in it! :p

I have a Eureka Apex 3xt coming so stay tuned for a first review on that!

+1 to the jetboil dude, I love mine. I used one bottle and it lasted a backpacking trip and several camping trips! Still has juice in it.

Haha at least you don't have to worry about losing them! I have a pair of Teva sandals that have worked amazing for me when backpacking during the summer. Pretty light too..I've also abused the heck out of them in saltwater when I kayak fish. I'll definitely buy another pair once these finally give out.

It is definitely a wonderful piece of equipment. well worth the money! I love how I am eating my dinner or drinking my hot drinks 5-10 minutes earlier than everyone else. :p
Everyone makes fun of me for wearing crocs around camp... but damn... it sure beats the hell out of getting in and out of hiking boots just to walk around. thinking of buying a pair of the insulated ones for the winter time. lol

Helllll yea haha. I live in the historic district so my house was built in the 1930s. My insulation under the hardwood floors has literally fallen off so it gets nippy. Plus I live alone so I'm a nazi when it comes to running the heater.

    Got a question...

Since hiking/backpacking boots are made for walking/hiking, do they hurt y'alls heels if you do more standing than walking, like all day? Mine do. :(

Will backpacking boots hurt if you don't have a backpack on?

Hmm I can't speak for all makes or anything since I only have purchased and used one pair of North Face boots, but mine have been great for just standing around camp or casually walking. I wore them five days in a row last weekend and felt fine.

I have a pair of Asolo, best boots I've ever owned. Had them for a couple of years, but they took some breaking in at first, killed my heels for the first month. Now they are super comfortable for every day use and, of course, long backpacking trips.

I just buy regular hiking boots. Never really heard of true backpacking boots. I have a pair of Merrel Moab Mid' s (non gortex), and for winter I have some North Face Storm Peak boots. Neither of them give me pain in my heels or back when I am standing or walking.

What boots do you have? How new are they? Could just be that they aren't worn in yet
