AAL ride quality

I have had the leaf springs TSB done and I have front 5100s and 1.5 AAL waiting to install. Still deciding between .85 and no AAL or 1.75 and AAL. Those of you that have an AAL, how did it affect your ride quality? Is it alot firmer, like annoyingly so, or just a little bit firmer? I don't off-road so I'm not worried about that. I do haul stuff occasionally, but it's mostly my daily driver so I want a decent ride.

 

Which AAL do you have? I've got the 1.5" Icon 3-leaf AAL and it's a great ride! The 3-leaf AAL is progressive so it's made to ride nice. I've heard single leaf AAL's are a bit stiffer, not as bad as they used to be since they're longer now, but still firm.

 

AAL with no TSB does have 110k tho and this is loaded...

 

I have front billies set at 1.75 with the stock springs and a 2 inch aal's with rear billies, front is firmer but it handles MUCH better, less body roll, it's a trade off that I can surely live with, the rears are firmer as well, but the set up absorbs everything much better than stock, smooth ride, very happy with it.

 

I have the 1.5 Toytec AAL - it's the long type. I thought about getting rear 5100s too but DSM said TSB + 1.5 AAL puts me in no man's land between their short and long 5100s. Any advice on that?

 

They're correct on that. I'm running the TSB, the 1.5" AAL with my factory overload so I gained almost 2" of rear lift and still using the shorter 5100's. I stick mostly to pavement and don't really flex out my truck or work out my suspension so I haven't had any problems with topping out. Talk to DSM, I've heard a rumor that 5125's are the middle of the road between short and long 5100's but see if someone can confirm that.

 

When I called them they suggested OME N182s which is what I ordered. Still waiting to put them on.

 

i have the 1.5 without AAL. running the OMEN182's. maybe i am not that sensitive, but i didnt really notice a change in ride quality that much. feels stockish.

 

I just done my lift over the weekend rides great . Tacomas are a bit on.the stiff side anyhow I could.not even tell a difference in mine
