I've bought used vehicles that were a great deal and didn't have these kinds of problems. There's a lot to be said about buying used and not paying for a loan.

But sometimes this does happen. In 30 years it has not happened to me with any used car or truck.

well guys the reason that i buy used trucks is because i am a pumper .i check gas wells everyday and i drive bout 200 - 250 miles a day an i can never get out of a new one buy the time its wore out i still owe to much on it. so this time i decided to go with a used taco . i will also tell that this 1 deal wont ruin me on tacos i have friends that have them an they are known here for being tough suns a bitches an yes i do make good money but i just recently started makin that kind of money , i been doin this for 14 years now an it took that long for me to get to this level .i am havin it fixed as i wright this an if the dealer helps fine if not i will not buy from him again .wish i could justify a new 1 but the places i take them an the miles i put on 1 makes it hard to do .

15g's doesn't sound like an unfair price. Last year I bought my 02 TRD with 103k miles. It blue booked for 15 grand, but I got it for 13. I don't regret one single cent of what I spent. No dealer is gonna dismantle a used truck to make sure there are no possible problems before they sell it.

Sorry to hear that. Every used car is a gamble, you just lost this hand. Now would be the time to trash that dealer in your small community. Well, maybe after the repairs are done.

Sorry David, I was hoping it would have gone better, I can only imagine the anger you must feel, I would be blind with it. On that note, please be careful, trashing people in small towns have a ripple effect that could gather up and splash on people that don't deserve it. First go to the Better Business Bureau, then the Chamber of Commerce. These are organizations that do this for just this situation, seek guidance from a level head. Drive on. :frusty:

It would be a terrible shame if someone was to accidentally walk by his lot a few months from now with a squirt bottle filled with paint remover.

You ought to have a magnetic sign created that states your opinion of their business practices and stick it on your truck door. Better yet, put up a billboard about it. I'm guessing you aren't the first person that got screwed by this guy.

    Sorry for your bad luck.

Sorry to hear that David. i got my Taco new but before that i bought a used BMW with 138k miles on it. When i went to test drive it the guy selling it wanted to ride with me (it was a small lot with the onwer and an assistant) I said that was fine but it was gonna take a while cause i had called my local BMW shop (beamers n' benzes, great shop for BMW and Mercedes in the greenville area, i cant recomend them highly enough) and told them i was bringing a possible buy up there and needed it checked out. The dealer went with me. They ran a full test for 80 bucks and handed me a sheet with all the problems they found. it was all little stuff like the cruise not working, nothing mechanical was wrong. So not only did i get piece of mind knowing it was healthy, but that little list of problems helped me get the price down a little :) The test cost $80 but it saved me hundreds in negotiating power and confirmed that it was in good shape. I put another 100k miles on that car and it would still be running like a top if my brother hadn't wrecked it. Anyway, nothing wrong with buying used, but its smart to spend a little money to get it checked out by someone reputable. it can end up saving you alot in the long run

yea just don't do the inspection like i did a few years back, ended with a crushed foot and losing my job, which then resulted in me not even being able to buy the damn car. that was fun:mad:
