so i was at autozone today window shopping and i saw some pretty nice looking hid headlight bulbs. anyways was wondering if i need to buy anything else to install these or is it just simply switching bulbs out?

I've never scene HID's at autozone before:confused: was it a long skinny bulb with a ballast?

They probably aren't HID headlight replacement bulbs sold at Autozone, since they are basically illegal. Maybe they were no-name bulbs that claimed to be HID?

If they were genuine replacement HID, like a D2S, you'd need to do something like a retrofit.

    No.

I think there is a retrofit group buy going on with The Retrofit Source. Check the group buy section of the forum.

^^ This... If you're going to drop HID's in your headlights, do it right! Retrofit your existing housings with projectors.

FWIW, some of the Advanced Autos around here have full HID kits. They don't keep them on the shelves, they just have the card that you have to take to the register and they keep them behind the counter. Apparently HID's are a controlled item
