The problem with this forum

I have read this forum everyday since I got my 09 in Oct. and you guys are great.

Ok, so I'm driving down the road and hit a little bump. All of a sudden I start getting this whistling noise coming from what sounded like the upper part of my windshield on the passenger side. OH crap, so many people have complained about this and now I've got to take it to the dealer so he can reseal it. I drive for 2 days like this with the radio turned up so I don't have to hear it. I didn't even want to drive far because it was a very irritating sound even with the volumn turned up. Then it seemed like the sound moved to the passenger window. Hey, I lean over and noticed the window was down a little. Rolled it up and no more whistling. Man did I feel stupid.

The moral of the story: To much knowledge can be dangerous. If I never found this site, the first thing I would have done on that first day of whistling would be to check my windows.

Perhaps the popular 'Do you pee in the shower?' thread, or even the 'Do you wipe your a$$ after sitting on the john?' thread is the route to go.

Those are just a few of the gems floating out there (no pun intended) where i am quite sure you will learn nothing of value.

Ha it is always the little things that get ya, but the knowledge.......well it will pay off in the long run, trust me............

 

Watch out for that window lock button, gets me a times!

There might still be an issue here ...

Were you resting your arm near the window controls when you hit the bump? Or must it have been the bump that triggered the passenger window coming down a bit?

Unless it was a hellacious bone-rattling bump, it seems to me the window dropping might be a symptom of a loose window track (etc.) or a transient short in your controls.

 

I'm there and totally with you on that..... and my only question to those is:
WHY!!!????? I just don't understand.

no electric windows here, all manual. But you can bet I will be keeping an eye on it.

Funny story about that one. On my '92 stealth TT in oregon... I was out for a cruise, day it as about 72 and perfect out. Well around 5pm on the way back, it started to get rather cold and time for the heater. I went to roll up the windows, driver went up... pass did not. I automatically assumed it was the regulator (again, this happened before when the gearing snapped. It is an old car and nylon can only take so much of az's abuse lol). So, I drove the remaining 100+ miles while it was about 35 out with the heater on max and pass full down. The next weekend I pulled the entire door apart, started playign with the regulator, couldn't get power. Couldn't even get power prior to the regulator... was pissed. Decided it was time for a break and shut everything up. On the last thing I did to remove the key (had the radio on of course) I went to lock and shut the drivers door and slid by a button. That damn window lock button. :click: Regulator works fine. So another hour goes to re-installing the regulator, re-attachign the window (such a pita), and putthing the door back together.





I hate that button.

x2. Ive luckily not ran into the window lock button too many times. I did hit it once when i got the truck and was like ahh..this dosent do anything..Then when it started to rain I was like ahh FAWK...Then noticed the button depressed..The window works fine

 

i knew a guy that took his toyota celica to the dealership because his passenger side window wouldn't go down... dealer quoted a price of $300 to fix the switch...

he didn't have the money so he didnt do it..

a week later he realized he had the window lock on..

pressed the window lock button to unlock and was good to go..

 

hey no worries, i had my passenger window locked for a month thinking it was a broken motor or something

 

Haha, I haven't run into this yet... but it's my first vehicle with power windows, so it'll probably get me sooner or later.
