In my opinion yes it is. If you want your camera to be fast, if you want it to take the correct FPS you will want the class 10. I had a class 4 and was trying to shoot sports and my camera wouldn't shoot the full FPS it had because it couldn't write the files fast enough. So in my opinion it is worth having the class 10.

No joke, I just spent $30 on a 30mb/s 4gb cf card and they have a 60mb/s 8gb on BH for the same price, thinking about going back to Best Buy and returning it to get that one on BH.

Yes all my cards are class 10's that's all I use and if you aver upgrade your body you don't want a bunch of cards that are not fast enough for your camera.

    Return it!

No problem guys B&H is the place to go for all your camera needs. I buy all my stuff from them no tax and free shipping FTW.

You can answer that question by hitting up the CF/SD database that Rob Galbraith keeps. Find it here.

Doesn't have every camera but you can get an idea of performance. And I'd add that just because a card is "fast" doesn't mean your camera can take advantage of that. Even in burst mode. The way things work, the camera buffers shots to its internal memory then writes the buffer to the CF or SD card. Usually, the bottleneck is writing to the CF/SD card.

Why would I avoid the fastest card? Mostly because you pay a premium for something you won't be able to take advantage of. I'd say get two of the next slower cards for about the same price as one ubber fast card. The same is true for largest capacity too--don't buy the biggest, instead of say a 64g card, get two 32g cards. There's a slightly different reason for capacity and that's if you lose the contents of a 64g, that's a lot to lose. If you spread your work out over multiple cards and you do experience a failure, then you're not SOL.

Choosing memory cards is a balancing act. You're trading off speed for price and convenience for redundancy. It's the same with computers. The biggest and baddest isn't always the best value--unless you absolutely need it (and I'd venture to guess most of us don't :D).

Good write up sir. I hadn't thought about the camera being able to run the card...

I added a few personal touches to the truck over the last few days so I wanted to take some pictures of it. These are 3 exp bracket shot HDRs. The last one I over-processed it a little bit more to bring out some textures of the rocks.
