    Hi -

Along with most of what has been mentioned - I have a set of black Maxtrax and 4 2 gallon Rotopax gas cans mounted to the rail system in the back of the Tacoma. I really LOVE the rail system and the Rotopax system works well. I am looking at a way to use their plate to mount my Maxtrax & HiLift jack to the rail system. A pic of my truck -

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/netdep/6160982918/in/set-72157627700891614/lightbox/

In the bed I have two Rubbermaid Action Packer bins - one is a "truck box" and has tools, snow chains, cat litter, replacement fluids, etc and the other bin is "camping" or "BOB" with MRE's, water, jetboil stove, etc. In the cab I keep my trauma kit, maps and spare GPS (old Garmin V to supplament the in-dash DVD Nav system)...I also keep a BOB as a "lifeboat."

This is a great thread and I will try to post some pics from my phone - I have trouble uploading larger files I shoot with a dSLR. Stay safe and thanks for sharing!!!

i have a BOB in my truck with enough food/cloths/water ect to live out of it for 5+days, 2 17rd backup mags for my CCW pistol along with various flashlights, first aid kit, and in the winter i throw another duffle bag in the back seat that has carhearts, thinsulated boots, gloves, hats, flannel ect ect, if the SHTF and i'm at work and for some reason my car/truck doesn't start i've got about a 20mi walk "as a crow flys" this is what i designed this bag around and i over compensated incase i'm further from home, i am thinking about adding 2 more backup mags tho, 2 makes me feel alright, 4 would put me at ease walking in the middle of no where by myself

i would post a list of what's in my BOB but there is so much stuff in there it is rediculous, the pack weighs a shade over 30lbs

I always laugh at these people who buy into the whole gold thing....If your hungry a damn bar of gold isn't going to fill you up but for those evil a-holes out there I can use my weapons to play Robinhood with their suppllies!

I too will add some of this to my BOB....also maybe some electrilite (gatoraid or chews) packs for a warm climate

You actually took your tailgate apart and placed them in there?

I would like to find a way to store a back-up pistol or rifle in my taco without looking like a terrorist if I am pulled over and also just in case. I have really been thinking of alternate mod lock boxes...hate to pay for them when they are so damn expensive!

Foglights are for fog, not oncoming traffic!
I have and need most of what you listed every weekend...minus the bible.
You left out analog compass, chapstick, firstaid kit, spare batteries, spare serpentine belt(kept the original after replacing it, never know) wool socks (double as mittens, if needed), sunscreen, ibuprofen and acetaminofen.
    I'm sure there's more.
I carry a lot of crap around!

I had such a blast reading through all this, it's right up my alley. I like being prepared for zombies, occupation, nuclear fallout, etc. What better way to navigate the end of the world than in your truck?

I keep a lot of the same stuff in the truck. I don't carry a gas can, I guess I'm banking on being able to at least steal some if SHTF. I'm putting in an on-board air compressor sometime next week, and along with it will keep an actual tire patch kit. Tool boxes are a good place for that, as are they for a spare battery.

I wouldn't mind having this kind of cash to throw at a survival truck. http://ok4wd.com/auto/expedition-ready-2004-toyota-tacoma

this is where you're wayyyy wrong and you'll get killed trying to do so, everyone's gonna be on edge in a SHTF do you really wanna be "one of those guys" out scrapin around trying to get what you can for free? if i catch someone trying to steal my gas or anything that i own in an SHTF you can bet your a$$ they'll be dead, SHTF would be a "me or you" scenario and in my eye's it's all about me/my family

you dont need to keep a gas can in your truck just dont let it drop below 1/2 tank, that'll most likely get you home in any situation unless you are 200mi from home

added somethin new to my BOB today, fishing kit and a penny stove, i built a penny stove awhile ago and somehow it never made it into my bag and then got trashed in the move so i whipped up a new one today in 10min of my spare time lol

I thought "Survivalist" was the technical term for - "Slightly paranoid redneck with the ability to MacGyver anything". Welcome Khaos!

I've got a couple 12-packs, a hooker, a blow up doll backup and 2 pounds of weed. Anything I'm missing?

I believe hookers are best in groups of two or three.

    Edit:

    Safety in numbers.
