$3500 for a suspension

Hello everyone. Its been a while since I posted but I have a question. I have been saving and I want to spend about 3500 on a 3" lift / suspension. What should I get? Please help me out. I want a good all around suspension that allows me to do some crawling if possible and allows me to do some bombing through the desert. I also need to be able to put a quad or motorcycle from time to time in my bed for hauling things to a track. Just thought I would mention that in case it matters. Thanks in advance everyone. By the way, I have a 2009 Tacoma shortbed Double Cab TRD off road 4x4.

Coilovers (Icon, Fox, King, Sway-a-way)


with new UCA's (Total Chaos, Downsouth motorsports, Light Racing, Camburg)

new LCA's

and a new leaf pack (Deaver, All-pro expo, OME dakar)s


If I were you, I'd get the coilovers, UCA/LCA (Brands up to you, cant go wrong with any of them; but do some research into them) paired with the all-pro expo leaf pack. AP made them especially for people who carry loads in their beds, so you'll get good flex with good carrying capacity

 

Damn. I cant wait. I want a lift bad. So many options. So far I like King Coilovers and I like Total Chaos for UCAs.

Are you/have you upgraded tires yet? Is that included in that $3500? If not that may be nearly $1k out of suspension money. Like stated above: Coilovers UCAs Leaf-pack, don't forget rear shocks as well

Yeah, I want the full Monty. As much suspension I can get for 3500. Front and rear.

 

Mid travel icon res coilovers, res 10in icon rear shocks , Allpro 3in leafs( expos if you haul 500lbs all the time) uniball uca's, as extended brakes lines and TIMBREN bumpstops

Built Right UCAs

dont get oem kings!!!! wasteee! get extended king coilovers, tc or camburg upper control arms, spindle gussets. no need for lcas, thats like 1400 and a waste of money.

then for the rear i would get dakar 3 inch leaf pack with the new icon 2.5 rear resi shocks, u bolt flip kit, and timbren bump stops

dude you can use metals and make longer a-arms in your moms kitchen for well under 3500 duh!

 

Whats the diff between the OEM and the extended?

 

Dont quote me on this but I believe the extended ones have more travel to them

and Hard2kills list is perfect: Extended resi coilovers with ucas in front, resi shocks, allpro leafs, extended brake lines, timbren bumpstops in back

 

If you're looking for 3", Get the All-Pro standard leaf pack. They All-Pro Expedition leafs are great, but they actually add 4" of lift unless you have 400-500lbs of stuff in the bed of your truck at all times.

If you're interested, there is a group buy going on right now for the leafs, so your timing couldn't be better.

I am not seeing the King extended shocks. I can easily find the OEMs but cant compare them to the extended you speak of. Are they called something else?

 

king does not make an extended version of the OE bolt in CO's. i'm sure if you called them up and asked them to they can take care of it for you, but it'll cost a bit more.

Icon is the only company i know of that offers the extended travel version of their CO's.

the ext. travel CO's offer about 1" more droop travel when paired with an aftermakert uni-ball UCA. do not run the ext travel CO's with stock UCA or the LR UCA because you'll max out the upper ball joint and it will fail.

the ext travel CO's are nice because you get the max amount of travel you can get with a bolt on set up, OE spec set up, but were talking about 1" of travel here. it's not the end of the world if you dont have that extra 1"
