Should I buy DuraTracs? or Something else?

I need new tires but cant decide. I like the Cooper ST, BFG T/A KO, and have debated over the DuraTracs because everybody seems to love them. I just want a nice aggressive looking tire that handles well on highway, dirt and snow (snowboarding season coming soon). I had BFG T/A KO's on my old truck and loved them but they where E rated and I didnt like them much in snow. What do you guys run? Help me decide!!

 

what kind of driving conditions do you go through?

 

Have you considered the Cooper S/T MAXX or the AT3? I have the AT3 and it's very mild mannered on the highways but still has a decent look to it and I have yet to be let down by Cooper's performance in the snow.

Duratracs seem like a solid choice though, many members have them and seem to love them.

 

Lots of good options out there, I can only comment on the Duratracs since that's what I have. I love them myself. Have handled everything I've thrown at them. Main reason I went with them over the BFG AT's were the aggressive look of the Duratracs. Still ride pretty good on the highway, I travel 300+ highway miles every weekend during the summer and my commute to work is short but all highway and the tires don't bother me. Great in the snow as well. I can get through most winter stuff in just 2wd since getting these tires.

I vote DuraTracs also - I will be going with a set as soon as my bank account recovers from my Wet Okole purchase.

I will agree with Kona, but only if you are looking for a true mud-terrain.

I agree with both you guys, love the look of those tire but the amount of driving I do on mud or heavy terrain is minimal. I have debated about buying mud terrains but besides the looks they arent practical. I live in So. Cal. so to much driving and sitting in traffic not enough mud! I do go in dirt, snow and rain, so would like a tire for those conditions.

get them duratracs and let us know how they are! I might grab a pair so I have m/ts and a/ts on hand. these m/ts like to eat my mpgs

 

I Agree with Konaborne on the MPG..,I just put a set of Mickey Thompson MTZ on my truck and my mpg dropped .E rated tires are heavy....
I ran a set of Duratracs last year and liked them 265/75/16 C rated ,being a C rated tire didn't hurt my MPG and rode good.(Don't ask why I sold them).
Now I have two sets of wheels,tires.Summer and Winter set up.

Im going with Cooper DisvovererAT3. buying them this week about $140 plus the offer a $75 card rebate.

 

I say either the ST or the BFG AT. I don't have experience with the Duratrac's so I can't say but I know how the other two handle and they are great!

 

I just put a set of BF Goodrich Commercial T/A Tractions on my truck. They are also E rated and ride a lot different than the OEM Dunlops. Can't really comment on how great they are too soon to tell.

These are snow rated with the Mountain & Snowflake logo.

But, they look cool

 

Why'd you sell them? Sorry had to ask. Sometimes I worry that I will hate the way they look after a while but with bfgs ta ko they havent changed there tire design in years so kinda used to the look just bored of it and dont want the E-rated tire.

 

I sold them because I was putting about 150 miles a day on my truck for work (out side sales) and was afraid they wouldn't last long.Sold them and bought a set of Firestone Destination AT thinking I would get better MPG but did not....After my truck hit about 75k I decided to buy me a new TDI Jetta and not worry about MPG any more..

Gunna buy Kelly safari tsr! Made by Goodyear for Kelly and look like duratrac. I actually think they look better. They are $40 cheaper per tire too!
