homemade intake

has anyone made a homemade intake for a 4.0?

 

I saw this on another site and about fell out of my chair! Not to mention the black silicone and vice grips holding the truck together.

 

Or their was this one.................

i know a guy on here did one for his 4 cyl. it turned out pretty good.

 

I would just drop the 350.00 and buy one from Toyota. I would never mess with the CAI. Talk about screwing up an engine real quick!

 

As long as it has a filter and you keep it clean... who gives a shit?

Air is air where ever it comes from. As long as it isnt routed to where its going to get dirty quickly or suck in water, it will be fine.

 

would something like this work? like i took out the air filter and did that?

 

TOTALLY wrong. The cross-section where the mass air sensor mounts is critical. It just ain't all that simple no more, Dorothy.

 

i have to agree with you on this one...to do something like that is deserving of a especially with the method above...might as well use your socks to cover the opening

 

Yikes! I wouldn't be doing mods like that on my truck either. I love my taco too much.
