what a mess i made!!!

so I was changing my oil today... you guys know where the oil filter is and it has a dripping nozzle... anyway, I had a pepsi can in place to catch the oil...everything was screwed back on... the drain and oil filter... so when I reach my hand to get the can out... it slipped out of my hand and it disappeared... I was like, holy shit where did it go?? I was looking all over the engine and it was underneath the fan!!! AND IT WAS UPSIDE DOWN!!! OH MAN WHAT A MESS!!! So the oil was all over the engine skid plate and in the plastic part of the radiator... I cleaned it the best that I can...but I can't reach it most part... this blows, why does it have to happen to me?!?! I just want u guys to know.... I was REALLY Mad that this happened... blood pressure sky rocketed!!

 

I wish that's all I had to worry about. Lucky you.

Much easier to grasp a small mayonnaise jar than a pepsi can. Plus the mouth is bigger.

 

Just go get a hose......please?

 

i think it takes a short time to finish the can of pepsi then a jar of Mayo!

 

Or use a water bottle

That sucks. I know how it feels to get frustrated. I have to walk away and take a break from things sometimes. Better luck next time.

Yep...just permantly install a drain hose and cap off the end once it stops draining.

 

Just tip it on it's side, it'll all drain out.

 

you guys dont think it will cause any damages right? It only spilled on the bottom of the radiator. Oh I also lost one of the nuts that's was holding the engine cover while I was trying to clean up this mess... awesome uh? its somewhere in the truck... ahhh what a day!

and atleast you didn't drain your tranny fluid and pour it back into the coolant!

 

Spray some anti-grease then wash it with water. Note: hose only not pressure washer. I'm not really sure if that help.

 

we are talking about the oil from the filter right? i just let that little bit go. it either just lands on my LCA or on the ground. BFD.

 

OFFTOPIC, but:

This brings back awesome memories of my childhood when I used to go to junk yards with my dad and we would winch cars over on their side like this and strip parts off of them with air tools and the aesetyln torch. We would take them back to the shop and rebuild them and use them on one of my dads many mad max style drag racing cars. According to him, and I beleive it becuase I have seen it, you can get most of what is available on the after market by searching junk yards and rebuilding parts. The real performance parts he would buy...but the intermediate stuff was free.

Here are some pics of a recent carhe has built up from mostly junk yard parts, even the car was free from a junkyard. This thing is NHRA Certified to run faster than 10 second qtr mile at 135 MPH. Haha!

 

Why did you take the plastic engine cover off to change the oil? Seems like an uneccsary step.

I just leave the black plastic engine cover on!
