TRD off road

For the new 2012 Tacoma...do the TRD off road package all come with the Entune entertainment system?

also for daily driving and weekend snow trips to Lake Tahoe for snowboarding..would the TRD off road or regular SR5 be good?

 

from what I understand, yes to the Entune and the TRD Off Road has the Rear Locker....the Standard SR5 will not...the locker is good to have for mud and sand

 

like others said, offroad has the locker which you MIGHT find beneficial for snow, but 4x4 would make the difference in snow.

 

yea i won't be going in sand or mud...hardly ever.

i wanted 4x4 for the snow. which i def will be getting. wasn't sure if i needed the rear locker or not. i was debating the sr5 non trd or the sr5 with trd off road.

went to test drive the new 2012 trd off road and its nice. It had the entune system..which i don't really need. and i know that adds $$$ to the total msrp. but] the sales guy couldn't answer if all TRD off road came with it or not.

Make sure to get 4x4

 

Just get an SR5 4x4. TRD packages all have the SR5 benefits plus some, but from what it looks like you need, you'd be just fine with a straight 4x4 SR5. It's what i'm buying.

 

Locker is for STEEP climbs, not sand... mud perhaps, but only works in low range.

The biggest benefit that only the 4WD Off Road has is A-TRAC... as it provides traction of front and rear lockers for SERIOUS off roading.

If snowy roads are your only concern, save the bucks and get an SR-5 or base... add your own stereo. Better tires will make a big difference, too.

Once again David K has brought up A-TRAC in a thread where no one was asking about it. OP, sounds like you would be happy with just an SR5 4x4, comes standard with TRAC and Auto-LSD which would be useful things for driving in snow

no need to argue guys...i'm just asking for some opinions.

i went in today and told them what i needed. The price difference between SR5 and TRD wasn't too much. i figured if i got the off road with the rear locker, if i end up selling it i might get better resale value. so i went with the TRD off road double cab 4x4 in magnetic gray. but no entune system. looks like MOST TRD off road comes with entune, but there are some that do not. they have to locate one and do a dealer trade to get it. i really don't need the entune which is the reason I told them no and it saves about $1500 to $2000. I rather use my phone for navigation or get an aftermarket unit.

Can't wait for the truck to come in. It's my first Tacoma, and I always wanted one. I bit the bullet since I sold my SUV and used it for my down payment.

Congrats! Just so you can appreciate it even more, the Off Road has twice the traction of a rear locker because it has the A-TRAC device which controls the front and the back together.

 

Seats are the same in both TRD packages, are they not?

so i picked up the 2012 Tacoma Off road, 4x4 in magnetic gray yesterday....I love it so far...put about 20 miles on it and its great...but now i need to get some stuff.

where and what brand side step, and tonneau covers do you guys perfer? I was thinking of getting the toyota side steps at their parts store but is there another company out there that is better?

and also what kind of tonneau cover? I would perfer a simple black one to just cover the items....any suggestions?
