Shortening the Bed on a 99Taco.

    99 Tacoma xtra, 2.7
    Toytec 2.5" lift., just the beginning. Front Builstein coil-overs fully adjustable from 0-3". 2" AAL in the rear with 2.5 degree shim. Total Chaos uni-ball UCA's.
    Any one here had any experience with shortening the bed on 99 taco x-tra cab? I'm thinking about doing it, but want to keep the tailgate, etc.. stock.. maybe just cut the rear and move it in.. Don't know if the frame rails will get in the way though.. Maybe i should just go with a flatbed to raise the bumper clearance issue.

    I'd say shorten the bed, I think it would look better then a flat bed

    just curious, why would you want a shorter bed??

    I'v got a DCSB and would rather have a 6' bed... WANNA TRADE? Is that even possible?

    Better departure angle so you wont scrape it as much on extreme angles.

    Not possible, the wheel well is closer to the cab on DC beds.

    I have the DCSB and almost dont have room for my recovery gear and spare so make sure you have the space!

    Bobbing takes a lot of skill to make it look stock.

    Might wanna consider dove tailing it also for better offroading

    It's an 89 Toyota Pickup. I got some stuff done to it.. FJ axles going under it soon.
    It's just the filling and sanding portion to make it look stock.

    The actual bob is easy, I been reading up on it and participated in one over the weekend on a 1st gen Pickup.

    It does take a lot of skill. I have seen so many bobs that are terrible.Take the time and make it look BA

    I have a buddy who has worked in a body shop for many years and to make them look perfect it takes skill. I'm talking show room quality.
