My front license plate was stolen.. so ya.. I reported it stolen and my friend driving got pulled over 3 times because they thought he stole my truck or the license plate.

I didnt know people stole license plates.. I know they steal cars and such.. but a license plate?

So ya.. here is a warning to all of you. Make sure you keep a eye on your plates and all. I have to buy new plates for my truck, but being a hour away from the county I bought them in, I cant get them for a bit.

This month has been horrible. Anyone else ever had their plates stolen?

I've heard of people going into populated parking lots and swapping people's license plates for shits and giggles.

Most people don't memorize their own license plate so it becomes almost impossible to find your plate. It usually takes a cop pulling you over to make you realize you don't have the right plate and by then it's too late...

i know that some crack heads in the city (chicago specifically) will cut your catalytic converter right out from underneath your truck, in the middle of winter, while your waiting for Your sub at Subway. They'll turn around and get scrap value.

Shitty luck with the plates tho...

I have mine memorized too...but like someone said...most people don't even pay their own any attention...so the theft could go undetected for quite some time (esp in states with no front plates)

I had my rear plate and frame stolen once. I'm sure they did it to get the registration sticker. Reg is expensive in CA. Some people just get the sticker stolen. I put the new frame and plate on with tamper-proof bolts and crosshatched the sticker with a razor blade so it's impossible to get the whole thing. In this bad economy people are stealing all sorts of stuff.

I also just installed a Cat Clamp because cat theft is rampant in L.A. and Tacomas are realy popular with cat thieves.

As far as I know most states have it required to have front and back plates. Im just glad I caught mine in time and reported it. Even though the officer that came to talk to me was a #$^&$%^# jerk. :/
