Question???

I own a 2002 Tacoma... The V.I.N. states it's a "limited". What does this option include? I know the color matched fender flares are part of it, but what else? This truck is also a stepside. Is this option rare? It seems like the couple of other stepsides I've seen only come in silver. Is this the only color for stepsides? Does anybody know how many of these trucks were built?

 

Do you have leather? I think that is part of the limited package. I don't see alot of the stepsides around so I would consider it at least a little rare.

BTW, when you title a thread, put an actual subject in it, some folks get kinda irritated by the generic "question???" title.

 

I found this:
An SR5 option package adds luxury equipment such as air conditioning, tilt steering, and variable intermittent wipers. The price and content of the SR5 package varies with cab, engine, and driveline. V6 Doublecabs and V6 Xtracab 4x4's can be ordered with a similar Limited package, which includes most SR5 content plus power windows, locks and mirrors. Again the precise content depends on the body style.

 

I think the only 2 options it doesn't have are a sunroof and leather. The truck is a v6xtra cab 4x4 SR5 with the TRD package. What does the SR5 package include? It has power everything.

There were several option packages available in 02-04

SR5 Chrome Package:

• Includes chrome bumpers and grill surround
• defroster linked CFC-free air conditioning

• color keyed door handles
• color keyed remote mirrors are standard on 4x2 models and available as an option on pre-runner and 4x4 models

Limited Package:

• Includes color keyed FRONT bumper and fender flares
• chrome grille surround
• chrome door handles
• chrome mirrors
• chrome REAR bumper
• sliding rear window with privacy glass
• dual fabric sun visors with mirror and visor extension
• orange illuminated white faced gauges
• power windows
• power door locks
• remote keyless entry
• leather trimmed tilt stearing wheel
• leather trimmed shift knob (manual trans only)
• washer-linked variable intermitant wipers

The Limited was only available with a v6 engine and only in double cab pre-runner, double cab 4x4 and xtra cab 4x4 configurations, and only in silver, black, and the impulse red.

TRD Offroad Package:

• P265/70R16 BFG tires with solid white lettering on 16" 5 spoke alliminum alloy wheels
• Locking Rear Differential
• Fender flares
• TRD graphics

Convenience Package:

• Power Mirrors

To sum up what makes your truck different from a SR5 color keyed, TRD Convenience package truck is that you have:

Chrome mirrors
Chrome door handles
Chrome rear bumper
chrome grill surround
leather trimmed wheel
leather trimmed shift knob (if you have a manual)
and a different seat with power lumbar support.

I do not have actuall production figures, but I have only ever seen two step-side Tacomas, one of which was black, and the other which was Impulse Red, so with your silver truck that completes the list of all three colors that a limited was available in. So with the limited and the step side bed I'd say you were pretty safe in calling your truck very rare.

 

I've only ever seen one in my life and I don't remember the color. They are rare enough that at the time my friend worked at a toyota dealership detailing cars and he didn't know they existed.

The only chrome is the rear bumper, the grille surround, and the badges. I don't have the power seat and there is no leather at all in the interior. I will post some pics when the truck is clean enough to take some.

 

I was copying all that from an 04 book, so maybe the leather wheel, power seat and chrome mirrors were added in 03 or 04. Regardless, it is still a pretty rare truck.
