Just so everyone knows, I sent a "fact-requesting" email to MaxTrac politely filling them in on the problem we've found and am hoping to get some sort of email back from them explaining the problem in the near future. I gave them a link to this board if they needed further information. I'm trying to figure out the exact problem vice just throwing in the towel. I refuse to accept the fact that all other spindles besides Camburg and TC are screwed up until someone definately proves me otherwise.

Really… a shim is his answer to the problem? This sounds pretty week to me.
What are they going to provide a shim (crappy washer) in each box along with the spindles because they speced them out wrong. I think this is completely unacceptable and tells a lot about they’re engineering and quality control.

I'd get my money back and wait for them to correct the problem rather than go the washer route. Perhaps they have already fixed the problem and became aware of it only after they already paid the money to manufacture the first few batches. Now they're just trying to make money off of the known flawed spindles so they don’t loose out. Hence why they have a shim readily available that works perfectly to correct the gap.

This sucks big time because I was really considering these as an alternative to the pricy Cambergs or way expensive TCs.

    Just gettin started!
I saw these spindles a while back and my biggest concern is the way they're made. These are cast pieces, explaining the lower cost and variances in tolerances! TC and Camburgs are both CNC'd parts (quality and tolerances are the same each time) and fabbed in a jig (again, quality control and tolerances can be checked and double checked). This is why they cost twice as much. You do get what you pay for.

The second thing that worries me about a cast piece is that they're in no way going to be a strong as the TC or Camburg pieces. Cast = air pockets, weak points, and defects! Fabbed = quality parts, gusseted construction, overall superior strength, and Higher $$!

If your Tacoma is going to be a street queen and you just looking for the lifted look, then by all means, buy the cast pieces.....but if your going to do any kind of wheeling, I would spend the extra cash for peace of mind and by the fabbed spindles!

Instead of the shim, can the spindles just be resurfaced flat at a machine shop?

The shim is for the lower control arm mount not the hub surface

I thought the lower control arm mount was flat as well and the gap is due to the casting not being perfectly flat? Could the LCA mount of the spindle be resurfaced?

machining that would only make the gap bigger

I'm guessing that bolt can't tighten another 2 turns?

The problem with over tightening cast is that it does have the potential of breaking....air pockets create weak points.

Man this sucks, I was really hoping these would pull through. Cast or not, these are stronger than Toyota spindles and something tells me they fit on other trucks, only question is, how many? Who's willing to be the next guinea pig?
