2012 Access Cab, Automatic, TRD 4x4 w/ V6 Tow Pkg. The only option I am aware of are the all weather mats.

    MSRP 31,705
Bought for 29,312 (Before tax, title, extended warranty)

I got a 7 yr 100k extended warranty for 1200$ Not sure if that is a deal or not. I have one month the cancel it for a full refund if I change my mind. I have never been a fan of the extended warranties, but it sounded good at the time.

The dealer claimed to have taken a loss on the sale?! Never owned a toyota before so I am unfamiliar with how pricing and sales typically work with their dealers.

    Hope this helps

No money, all went to truck...
I hate it when dealers say they took a loss. I pretty confident no dealer will sell a truck at a loss. Otherwise they wouldn't be in business.

I pulled the trigger on the warranty also, but when I got it home and read the fine print a few days later, I saw how you can only use the warranty if you can show flawless maintenance records for the entire life of the vehicle. Also, there is a very short window (30 days?) at the end of the 7/100,000 that you get to request your refund if you don't use the warranty.

I do all my own maintenance and keep receipts, but I could see myself getting screwed down the road. So I cancelled it and feel much better about the whole thing now. The warranty sounds good, but it really isn't that good unless you have a catastrophic defect occur before 100k. And honestly, if I ever assumed there was a risk of that, I wouldn't have bought a Toyota.

There is typically very little profit in new car sales. Dealerships make the money on service, used car sales and manufacturer incentives. So yes, they could sell a vehicle for less than what they paid for it if all the numbers work out.

well, for starters, you should be worrying specifically about the dealer invoice, as you can determine what they paid (less holdbacks, etc) they paid. fyi - there are things on the invoice that the dealer gets back from corporate, so the invoice is inflated for these items. in reality, that's most likely not a horrible price you're getting. depends upon where you live and how many other dealers there are around to check and current levels of inventory. in addition, you should ONLY be talking to the fleet manager, NEVER a salesperson.

my buddy makes about 3-5K easy on each truck they sell... plus holdbacks, and incentives if they hit certain sales numbers.

They called me and said they wanted more 4 bangers on the lot. They said they were still behind because of the tsunami. Had double and access cabs spaced out, not a mighty mouse in sight. Had a '09 in fair condition, owed 13k. They offered 16.5k towards a 4x4 V6 access cab for 24k on a 72 mo with nothing. Instead, I took three grand of options on a reg cab 4x4 I4 at 22k. I just love the reg cab's tight little ninja butt wheelbase. This little bastard can go just about anywhere. 2 miles on the odo. Here's to 250,000!

As a point of reference I paid 31k for mine out the door in November 2007. And that bitch is PAID OFF now. Wrote last check for $7,500 last month.

2007 DC SB V6 6 Spd TRD Off Road just hit 40 k.

I would hate to be back at square one even if the odometer read 2 milez.

    Haha suckaz.

I am so proud of youz.

I just love when dealers quote super low prices, then when you sit down to sign the papers they spring an $800 "dealer fee" on you. What a joke... you know they are laughing all the way to the bank on that one. Any "dealer fee" or "document fee" should be added to the quoted price if you ask me - the only reason they charge those is to advertize cheaper prices while still actually charging you full price.

For reference, last week I was quoted $29,706 for a 2012 4x4 DCSB SR5 with towing package (I guess that comes standard on most packages now), standard alloy wheels, DRL, All-weather mats and tube steps. Tax/title/license fees will total $372 for a grand total OTD price of $30,078. Invoice was $29,606, so I got it for $100 over invoice. I was happy with this price and the service I've been given by the manager I'm working with. My truck is to be built in two or three days and hopefully I'll have it by the end of the month!

I did all my communicating with dealers through email, which made the process very stress-free and manageable. I'm happy with the quote I've gotten and if they try to pull any hidden moves on me at the dealer I can walk away to one of the other dozen or so dealers I was haggling with.

    More updates once it lands!
