I hope y'all don't phase easily, but it's going to be aliens.

not the illegal kind hahaha, but the kind some have always wondered about, the kind most never thought existed.

they're not going to have small bodies and large heads, they're gonna be different sizes and shapes, but for the most part very strong and agile.

very difficult to kill, your best bet will be decapitation. Don't always count on guns in close quarters, but never fail to keep a blade with a solid tang on hand.

guns and knives are good to have around, but rendered useless if YOU aint trained properly. No matter how big or small you are, train to take down guys bigger than yourself.

practice on blocking and striking repeatedly, and remember always with a blade nearby.

learn to handle yourself with one arm out of the fight, cuz when the adrenaline kicks in you might not be able to move it, but it sure as hell won't feel the pain it normally does so tuck it tight to your body and learn to defend yourself with only one able arm.

when you practice, do so when you're rested, and also when you're extremely winded, muscle memory will take care of the rest once you've been properly trained.

when the shit hits the fan, you'll be glad to have read this, and hopefully smart enough to prepare.

and remember train for the worst, if you aint used to seeing shit gory shit, atleast google it  cuz these little guys that are coming for us will not be nice, nor will they be cute.

 hardly seems plausible right? But remember, when they do come, thank ink junky!

No it will be an EMP. It's the easiest way to destroy this country. If it happens we will destroy ourselves. This country will be back into the old west instantly. People today have no clue what that will actually entail. It will chaos here. Also, If it happens our trucks will be nothing but very expensive, and very large, gas cans.

i know i'm going to get questions about that giant aluminum fire steel so here is the link for the model i bought it's giant and bad ass lulz.
    http://firesteel.com/Deluxe-FireSteel-Tube-Bunker

edit: the last pic is an an old school oakely eye glass repair kit and cleaning stuff and a tasco moncular :)

i took pics of the black bags contents as well but, i don't want to clog the thread up

the sitka has multiple compact first aid and survival packs and quality tools and blades along with a ton of fire starting equipment blast matches for one handed operation wet fire fat wood and one of my favorite tinders cotton balls with half dipped in wax as long as the spark touches cotton these little bastards blaze for over a minute.

edit: also soon to be spraying my truck with kevlar paxon and line-xtra, and fully armoring it underneath with ato skids and a decked out cbi rear bumper.

    Hans,

What is your bag(s) geared towards? Meaning, are you planning on using these bags if you need to abandon your truck and go on foot? Or are you planning on using these bags while still being in your vehicle trying to make it to safety, make camp, etc...?

What about scenarios? Disease outbreak (zombies), natural disaster (mudslide, flooding, earthquake), etc...

I'm a huge survivalist but I'm used to living in fairly remote/rural areas, and now that I live in downtown Orlando, I have a hard time justifying the expense of this stuff.

Don't get me wrong, it is ignorant to think that things can't happen in big cities (it's almost the opposite sometimes), but my thought process now is that if something did happen, I'm within just a few miles of almost anything I would need (medical supplies, food...).

I'm just curious what you guys are basing your survival gear off of. Mainly to help me justify the purchasing of this stuff. :D

realistically anything that might put me away from resources and shelter either from my truck and or my house.

the tan bag is a light weight set-up i have for emergency's with only two full mre's with heaters.

the black oakley pack however is on that if we had to get out of the area with i would grab it has food for almost a week and is set up very similar.

in the truck currently i also have a maxpedition vulture 2 pack with a nice 2 person tent and cookware also has life saving gear. between the cost of the sitka and the gear contained within it's a pricey little thing lol but, if i ever needed it i would have it. same can be said for the black oakley ap pack as well pricey as shit but, it's packed with goodies to keep you safe until you find your bearings in a shit storm.

i like the whole zombie thing but, i didn't go out and spend over a grand to put together a few bags for that reason lol. my purpose was for camping and as both a urban bo bag and a longer term bug out bag while still keeping an eye on the weight. ounces make pounds so its got to be easy to carry.

right on buddy if it helps you the go for it.

i think that there are a few things that are nessary in any survival situation. focus on what poundage your kit will be then go from there.

light weight but very well stocked and optioned first aid kit something with quik clot would be best. then you can add to it like i did to further bolster it's effectiveness.

a high quality multi tool i personally ordered around 1,000 dollars worht of them then after playing with them for a week or so setteled on the swiss multitool it's bad ass dude and way nicer than anything else i held in my hands. a high quality flash light i choose the night core D11 due to it's extremely long run time on one single aa battery over a hundred hours. also for a light the size of a roll of certs breath mints it packs a serious punch! over 150 lumens in a very useable beam pattern. check into them they are a solid choice and in zombie land you might not be able to find some of the fancier battery's aa's are everywhere and the aa lithiums run a bit longer are easy to find and have a shelf life of over 10 years.

another must have is a good blade, for folders i would choose zero tolerance model 300 or 350 they are hard use folders in the strider sense of the word.
for a fixed blade i went with becker knife and tool they are proven use ka-bars excellent 1095 cro-van steel and are basically sharpened pry bars their price is also modest.

the firesteels i have are as follows the link i posted up is for the mother of them all lol. in theory it should be the only one you need but, if your hurt and you only have the use of one hand the blast match is stellar to have the midget size one pretty much blow imo and should be looked at as a last resort. here are some of the best ones ever made much much better than anything i have seen and i ordered a whole shit ton of these as well to test.

    http://firesteel.com/gobspark-firesteels/
    http://firesteel.com/Deluxe-FireSteel-Tube-Bunker
    http://firesteel.com/magslab-firestarter
    http://firesteel.com/fatwood-slabs
    http://www.google.com/products/cata...K9tgeT7tyhBw&sqi=2&ved=0CEAQ8wIwAA#ps-sellers

lol this is an important part of a my pack and decision making process since i live in a colder part of the country you want something that will set wet cotton on fire lol the steels and tinder i have linked are all pretty awesome the steels are the best period there are also other aids instead of fat wood and magnesium bars as well these are just some of the things i have.

sharpening aids compact diamond shaprener is great. wd 40 pen or mini bottle as it helps keep your gear working properly and helps with processing wood believe it or not. a bivey blanket and tube tent just to keep the weather off and a few other misc things then you should be all set.

edit: oral hygien products travel size, a bunch of folded up aluminum foil for various reasons and a ton of duct tape wrapped around a credit card :) 550cord the quality stuff not the rothco shit lulz tad gear stocks the best 550 cord ever and it's still cheap the trick is finding it in stock.

also my kit is not predicated on being rescued but, rather on remaining unseen if that makes sense. i have the ability to signal effectively but, all my gear is natural colors that would blend into the terrain lol not the giant orange bivy's and stuff granted my tent is orange but thats the only color i could find that didn't get terrible reviews.

Hans, that is by far the best kit I have seen period. Seems like you, Fink, and myself are on the same page with "what to do" when SHTF. I will be taking some pointers. I like the 2 bag system especially since I live in Ohio and have to deal with Hot vs Cold.

I do not have a tough reliable fixed blade yet (only a BUCK knife) but like the few you have. My EDC knife is a Benchmade 585 which I love.

I need a light with AA's....my O-light is bad ass but takes those fancy camera batteries!

Something to think about regarding wet cotton....I have cotton balls ad dryer lent stored in one of those waterproof floating devices on a 550 string they sell to keep things dry at the pool. I also have needles and thread in this along with some alcohol wipes. Also attached to the 550 string is my fire steel that buns at 5k* I am told?

    lol nice thanks man!

i need some ammo for my guns lolz i have around 120 rounds a piece for my g19 and my g30 i have been trying to stock pile a thousand rounds od hornandy critical defense polymer tips for both slowly as that shit is expensive as hell. other than that for cold weather i could do ok and warm weather would be a breeze at this point.

if you guy's have any suggestions for me it would help a lot.
some guy's are really good at this kind of stuff lol i some of the areas i bought in kits already made and either modified or added to them to round them out and others i put together my self. lol i saw that movie when the dude gets trapped inbetween the mountain and had to cut off his own arm and the only tool he had was some made in china multitool haha i was like that gonna be me.

i had ordered like 4 different leathermans and a few sogs and some others then i had one swiss multitool and i'll be dammed if that one was not light years ahead of the others its like a well oiled watch.

also the beckers are cheap man if you order the bk2 there isn't much you can't do with that knife it is a 1/4 inch thick 1095 cro-van:eek: and my big boy the bk9 is a 9 inch blade and 3/16th inch thick 109
5 cro-van it's a bad mother. makes processing wood really easy due to its size and weight.

i have a buck 120 general and it's a great knife! no doubt buck has a tremendous heat treatment they use. lol idk if you ever realized that most knives won't really throw sparks from your fire steel but, my buck throws out sparks like mad.
