Im an idiot when it comes to rim/tires

Okay so Im very near to the process to starting my build and I want to purchase rims and tires but I'm a really big dumbass with all the numbers when ordering online dont make sense to me on the rim sizes. I want either 265/75-16 BFGoodrich Mud Terrain TA KM or BFGoodrich Mud Terrain TA KM2 285/75-16 i want to be running 16 or 17 in rims but I dont know what exact specs of rim that would i put on them or what brand. For suspession im wanting toxtended Travel Remote Reservoir Front Coil-over Shock and Rear Reservoir Shocks with AAL ICON If any is willing to help me I would greatly appreciate it

 

with a 3" lift you need rims with 4.5" backspacing

 

For the 285's.

For the 265's, anywhere between 4.5" and 5.5" will be fine.

 

yes of course but what spec of rims like with the profile of the rim how do i determine that? if i want 265/70/16 tires how do i know what size of rim i get ?

 

The tire manufacturers list the approved rim width range for each size of tire on their websites.

With your 3" lift a 33" tire isn't too difficult to fit (given the correct wheel specs) In 16" I'd recommend looking at the 285/75R16 and in 17" look at the 285/70R17 size.

When it comes to wheels, as stated above a wheel with a 4.5" backspace will give you the clearance to run a 285mm+ wide tire so if you think you may want to run the 285 now and possibly wider in the future a wheel with a 4.5" backspace would be good to have.

For reference:
16x8 with a 0mm offset = 4.5" Backspace
16x8.5 with a -6mm offset = 4.5" BS

17x8.5 -6mm offset = 4.5" BS
17x9 -12mm offset = 4.5" BS.
