Toyo MT's & New Wheels

Fellas, sometimes its simply better to be lucky than good. I now have TWO (2) complete wheel and tire sets for my 2011 Taco. Both are complete and the new set are 265 75 16 Toyo MT 10 ply tires. Both wheel sets are the Off Road Alloys.

Now the best part: I got the 4 Toyos and the 4 brand spanking new Toyota Taco wheels only for the price of 3 of the tires plus another $50 for the wheels. That's right, I paid for 3 tires, got one thrown in for free and paid a whole $12.50 for each of the Toyota wheels.

Les Schwab in Yuba City put this deal together for me. The store is literally across the street from the Toyota dealer. In June, somebody bought a brand new Taco, drove it the 100 yards to Les Schwab and put on custom wheels and tires. The person did not want the OEM wheels and tires so they were left at the Les Schwab store. The tire store dismounted the wheels and put them on display. I've had my eyes on them for a few months.

Fast forward to last weekend: I get my initial oil change at Toyota. They are having a buy 3 get one 1 free tire sale. Thus, while waiting, I walk across the street to Les Schwab and see if they will match the Toyota deal. They say of course. Long and short of it, I buy from Les Schwab paying retail for 3 tires, getting 1 free and essentially getting the wheels for a song.

Now I have my OEM tires for summer driving and the new MT set for hunting and winter seasons:

Good deal. About 2.5 years ago I paid $50 a tire for Toyo MT's! I bought 5 of them for $250. No they weren't stolen. They were used by Casie Currie for one race, 20 mins.

 

$12.50 per wheel.

 

great tires. I've ran toyos on my taco and ram for a while.

 

I'd love to be able to do that. Just no place to store a 2nd set of wheels/tires.

 

How do you guys like the Toyo MTs? Hows the ride...I do a lot of freeway commuting

 

Surprisingly smooth at speed. The only caution is that they are REALLY heavy. My 2.7 struggles a bit on steep grade starts with these. I've smoked the clutch a couple times on San Francisco hills since installing them. Awesome off roadworks.
