Older trucks are A COMPLETELY different story. They are simple to build compared to a tacoma. Great 4runner none the less! Looks like it flexes well!

Frame is different, they already have a power steering box. Depending on which year they already have a SFA. Everything is cheaper and more widely available since they have been around longer.

gotcha, I remembered the steering box right after I posted:eek:

Now swapping an axle on a vehicle that had one from the factory is definitely WAY cheaper. If you do all the fab work yourself (like custom hangers, steering, etc) I think any IFS swap will be pretty similar in price though.

Its an 87 so it was IFS but the early IFS frame wasnt much different from the SA, just look at the difference in cost for the kits on trailgear and whats needed.

It still probably cost more than 2500, but like stated earlier you are picking up an old axle, so you have the cost of the axle plus the cost to make it road and trail worthy.

Also another side note is that the Trailgear springs are very soft. The truck does flex well but it also finds the bump stops very easily if you are going down a trail at any speed. Not a big deal for this truck but if it were mine it would bother me.

Thanks for the quick responses. I guess I forgot to state that this is also a daily driver that gets at least 40 miles a day, even more on the weekends getting to the trails. It also gets it's legs stretched on the hwy for about 250mi once a month. I've got 4.30's from the factory and it's pretty slow (no nuts) now with the 33's. So that brought me to 5.29's and a possible dual case in the future if need be.

The kit with ARB also icludes compressor.

Both front and rear kits come with one extended brake line. I already have one in the rear. Wont I need two up front, to go from frame mount tab to the caliper?

What are some good hubs? got a part #?
What piece is refered to as the "spindle"? Part#?
The radiator is only $110, it's 2" shorter alowing for the drag link more travel.

    Thanks again

I'm sure if it says it comes with brake lines it actually means a pair.

Hubs to choose from are Warn/Aisin.. Aisin seems to be way over priced? I would try and find them cheaper somewhere...

For spindles, you can get regular spindes for probably $40, or these extremely strong ones

Supra TT- Thanks for the links man. I'll call again to verify the brake lines.

atvlifestyle- Nice rig you got there. What kits did you go with, 3", 4" or 5"? Flexes like a champ!

Thanks its actually a budies rig, it has a 4" kit. Sits prettty high not having the weight of the hardtop. It flexes good but will flex better when it finally clearances those pretty fender flares off (they are the rear bumps right now).

Really? I find that they are stiff..everytime I drive my buddies truck..they feel stiff to me.

He has TG 4's with a 6.5" shackle, Bilstein 5125s up front..

Not sure what lenth shackles, but it has 5125's all round. we call it the marshmallow because it rides so soft, but to get the travel out of the rear the shocks had to be mounted /\ at pretty extreme angles and are therefore not doing much. The boggers are so heavy also that could be a contributing factor.

He get's more stroke out of his..and uses them to his potentional like that..because it's a 12" shock he has in the back..and straight up | | you lose up travel on only 4" springs, but you have massive droop..we triangulated them and he gained up travel but lost some droop..but not much..just a tad.

Haven't ever checked travel since installed but it wasn't limiting travel anywhere then. Are you running the 4" classic rear lift?
    http://www.trail-gear.com/rear-lift-kits

We were talking about longer shocks mounted vertical with hoops in the rear once we tie the cage into the frame.
