My Tacoma automatically locks all the doors when I turn on the engine and I hate it. I have to unlock all the doors to have access to the back doors once the engine is turned on. Anyone knows how to bypass this auto-lock mechanism????

Two honks when I unlock, I find this annoying.

The auto-lock mechanism piss me off the most. When I turn on/off my truck and have the unlock the truck to have access to the back door every time just piss me off.

Nice to learn that I am not the only nut-bar that finds the auto-locking "feature" a major pain in the pitootski. For my little diesel, VW Golf, I made it a condition of the sale that the doors would not go click-click as I drove off, or there would be no deal. Dealer gave me all sorts of excuses, some sort of real, such as the door locking was tied into overall vehicle security system, and could not be disabled, but mostly just warm and fluffy, such as my personal safety was improved driving around with locked doors. VW solution was to read the owner's manual before taking delivery, and I found the golden reference to "the auto-locking feature can be disabled by your VW dealer." So, I required it to be killed, and it was.

Not taken delivery of the 2012 Tacoma yet, but with respect to disabling the irritating auto-lock, my dealer is "working on it".

Exposed to a myriad of rental vehicles, during last year's work in Western Canada, and every one had auto-locking doors. My VW spoiled me, and I can not count the times I exited rental vehicles, only to be unable to get my work-stuff out of the back seat without jumping through silly hoops.

^ Agreed. Specially when you walk all the way around your work truck in -30ºC with snow drifts. Hated it.

Can't help with locking, but, to turn off honking (if we have the same security system) Mine has the purple led light below steering wheel when system is on. Anyway...
Without starting truck. 1, turn key on 2, turn key off, 3, push button under purple light 3 times. Here is a number I was given by the dealer. The person talked me through the process.
(Karr Alarm) 888-930-5277. Hope this helps.
