    hey all , i have a 10 tacoma 4x4 2.7L
i have some rust spots on my bumper, and a ticking noise coming from my fan when i had it on low.
i brought it in for a oil change, (its still under the maintainence free, 25k miles) i let him know about the 2 things .,
i come back in a hour to pick it up from the oil change, they had already put a new updated blower motor from the TSB in. and a sound detoning kit he said.... glad that tick is gone!
and they ordered me a new rear bumper, getting installed next week.
pretty happy i thought i was going to have to fight with them about it, but no problems at all. next time ill ask about the suspension TSB haha.
i remember reading a little while ago about there being a new blower motor tsb and i read some people had some problems getting a bumper replaced. just sharing my experience! DCH freehold toyota in NJ.

I have a 2010, and I'm on my 3rd blower motor and it started ticking about 2 weeks ago. Is there a real fix for this?????

Damn, James. I am on my second, about to be on my third and you are not giving me much hope. Listening to annoying ticking is NOT why I bought a new truck. Really hoping they figure out a way to handle this.

Talking to my local dealer, they said that there was a problem with the factory blower motor but once it is replaced with the new one there should be no problem. That has not been my experience, and apparently not yours either.

I had a 1996 Tacoma and had 3 blower motors replaced due to ticking and the noise came back, I just got used to it.
I then bought a 2008 Tacoma and had the blower motor replaced due to ticking and it cam back a few weeks later, I didn't even bother going in for a 3rd one, I'm already used to it.

If Toyota has yet to fix it in 12 years, I doubt they ever well.

Right on, TacomaMike. I'm gonna schedule that swap as soon as possible--still under warranty. Will be stoked if that fixes the problem!

    ShawnD2: I have had two pre-tacoma toyota pickups--a '90 and a '91--and they never had this problem.

I agree, the pre tacoma's where great. I had a 84 and 85 without any issues.

Do the same generation 4runners have this same problem? Can I steal one of their blower motors?

WHY????? your still under Warr you said.
Only on the Tacoma's. Never had one in a 4runner. I don't think I've ever had a 4 runner heater issue. So i can't tell u if they are the same or not.

You have number 2 in there. GET THE NEW BLOWER !!!!!!!!!!

Yes it is frustrating, yes it is ridiclous, yes, there is a fix!
Blower fan # 3 completely solved all the blower noises. The dealer just needs to get the correct part.
As for the bumper, it's a 7 year old problem, I have to assume Toyota never plans to actually make a better chrome bumper.

I got rear spring tsb done last week and mentioned tick from blower. According to dealer it is on backorder and should be in in about a month or so. I guess in the mean time I'll just keep the radio turned up! Btw it's an '11 dc lb

Roger that, Tacoma Mike. I'll give number three a try. If that craps out on me too then I might look for another solution. Sure it is still under warranty, but I am getting sick of bringing it in every couple of months for a replacement part and then waiting for them to get it in. I am glad that I am not paying for them though.

Believe me, the Techs on the line are just as frustrated as you.
Like "Come on, it's only a blower motor."

I have not heard anything about a noise in the latest ones yet.
Isthatahemi says his noise is gone.
    So we will see.

I knew they were going to go on back order Jojack. Just way to many needed. Just stay in touch with them every couple of weeks.
