Why not just get one of these space heaters?

I have one with a remote mounted thermostat so you can place it away from the heater and it will maintain that temp.

I use one of these to heat my garage in the winter and it will heat up my 2 car garage in about 30minutes to and hour.

We would get one of those, but here on the bigisland the electricity is expensive, plus a wood one just looks so freakin sweet!

And you can't roast marshmellows or hot dogs on a space heater.

We have a baseboard hot water heating system heated by an oil-fired HOT boiler. The thermostat controls the water flow by activating a pump and the boiler keeps itself hot regardless of the pump's activation. It is extremely expensive to run. We fill our 500 gallon tank with diesel #2 dyed heating oil twice a year. (similar to regular diesel only taxed differently).

It does have 5% biodiesel in it. Our boiler would need to be converted to run on biodiesl because it does have a few seals that are incompatible and the fuel lines are copper. In addition, the injector is not calibrated for the high cetane bumber of biodiesel and it can actually inject and overload the burner if not calibrated. We would love to use biodiesel but it is still more expensive than regular heating diesel. You can't beat the type of heat it produces. It is very even. The only downside is the lack of air circulation, however, it was designed to run so hot that windows could be opened. back when boilers were installed in houses, fuel was inexpensive and windows could be left open for fresh air!

We also have a large wood stove but it is on one side of the house. It heats the whole house but it is too close to the boiler's thermostat so it shuts off the pump and freezes my ass off upstairs.

We have considered other options but are limited due to the water needing to be heated to 180 degrees. Our neighbor has an outdoor wood boiler and we have considered that option, but they use a lot of wood and it would get a little spendy. My long-term goal is either an instant hot-water boiler or biodiesel.

Not mine I don't have it. Yes it can heat a house. You have a lot of these throughout the house, often more than one per room.

any kind of heat is going to make condensation. DEPENDING on the temp outside. in my opinion, that kind of heat would be a pain in the ass to maintain. BUT todays technology, probably makes it easier to maintain. does that make sense?
