Pistol course question

For a righty, which way would you turn when shooting the el presidente course?

Or does it matter?

 

Which ever way you feel better turning...

Personally, I turn right. It feels more natural.

looks good. A couple of questions that I have for you though: I thought the El Presidente needed to be standing (or is that just how it is usually done). I know that the real El Pres has three targets where you double tap each, reload, then double tap each. Was this just a practice?

Is that a Raven Concealment Holster? I want one of those so bad...

Now on to the real reason for the post. It looked like a good draw but wasn't as fluid as you see in competitions. Now that could be related to the video quality. I would just keep practicing. Have you tried spinning the other direction? (Right, I think)

 

This was practice basically in a position where you are talking to a subject and your cover officer calls out a shooter from behind. Its the first time I've turned and shot like this.

Its just an uncle mikes paddle holster...lol nothing fancy!

 

then it's practice, practice, practice and you'll get better. Looked good for a first timer.

Have you checked out the Raven Concealment holsters? They are a bit pricey but sick sick sick. If you want to waste some time learning about tactical shooting, watch The Art of the Dynamic Hand Gun by Magpul. Definitely worth the watch.

 

Not quite a first time shooter...but getting familiar with this pistol and shooting at targets that are approaching me.

I have never heard of the Raven holster.

 

I meant first timer with the turn and shoot, not overall....

I still stand behind Magpul, you can learn a lot even as an experienced shooter.

 

Just practice both directions and go with whatever feels more comfortable. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast!

 

x2 on The Art of the Dynamic Handgun DVD. It's pretty awesome. I've started using a lot of their techniques when I shoot now.

Another great holster, if anyone's interested, are the holsters by M-Tac. I use the Minotaur inside-the-waistband for my Glock 27 when I'm off duty and the gun totally disappears under just a t-shirt.
