So Freakin Cool

So I purchased a Pioneer deh 7000-bt a while ago and I really wanted to be able to hook up a 250 gb hard drive up to it. well honestly I haven't even had the time to try and hook it up to get it to work. The fact is I realy don't care anymore. I have been enjoying the Blue tooth connectivity answering calls and playing MP3's from my phone over the blue tooth. It sounded much better than I ever realy thought it would. And the fact that its blue tooth I don't have to worry about any wires, I can fast forward and skip to the next song with out even touching the phone Its been great! But there was something missing I needed more. I was always dissapointed that my phone (VX6800) wouldn't run Pandora. Well last night My friend came over and we flashed the software on my phone. We put a new OS on it and low and behold there it is. Already installed is the Pandora App. I couldn't get to my truck fast enough! I started up the truck waited a few seconds for the radio to auto connect and there it was the thing that was missing all this time. Pandora on my on my radio. Everything is right with the world I nolonger wish to have 250 gigs of music at my fingertips. I can now rock out to comercial free music and stations that like not mainstream stuff.

 

pandora is pretty bad ass.

 

This is the future of music....ipods will be all but obsolete in the very near future.

People will look back and think how stupid we were to buy one song at a time and put it on a device, then into a radio.

I'm sure it will get more advanced though, more like monthly fee to just have instant access to streaming audio.

 

"Hey," they will think, "Why don't we just put songs on the radio? We could put up these towers, and broadcast. We could set up different stations, and give out call signs... 'K' could designate a west coast signal, and 'W' could designate east coast, and the rest would be 3 letters, like 'WKRP' or 'KNRQ'... To fund it, we could advertise, and make it more fun with radio personalities.

...but folks might want to have a copy of the music at home, so they could listen to it at their leisure. We could invent these circular discs, with grooves in them, and they would have a few songs on them..."


Hehe, just giving you a hard time


To the OP, if you want to use a hard drive, you will need to do the following:
1. Provide additional power to the hard drive: The deck doesn't provide enough amperage for the initial spin up of the disc in most circumstances. You can buy a USB-to-cig lighter adapter on newegg for $8, and you need an enclosure that provides two USB plugs (one for data, the other for power)
2. make sure the drive is formatted for FAT32
3. When you use the drive, it may take up to 30 seconds for the deck to search the drive. My last pioneer deck would take 30 seconds regardless of how many songs (thumb drives would be instantaneous, of course).
4. unplug the drive when not in use, and you might want to have it off when you power up the vehicle to prevent surges.

Really, it's just easier to buy an ipod
