instead of getting 35's just go with 39.5's. I saw them on a 2011 jeep wrangler (hard top) It was lifted 8 inches. It looked bad. It had 39.5x13.5r17 super swamper Irok's

It's an 89 Toyota Pickup. I got some stuff done to it.. FJ axles going under it soon.
Why? ^ 35s are perfect, actually 37s are..anything bigger is pointless IMO.

Unless you go low and tall..like 40s on a 5" lift..low COG but high clearance..pretty popular these days far as crawlers.

I was fixing to type in 37's until i thought about seeing that jeep with 39.5s. My buddy has got 35's on his chevy they are to small for his truck. For rock crawling 35's are to small to me. You want a big tire to get over them rocks and enough ground clearance. 37's will be fine to me.

You said "anything over a 37 is pointless." Must not be pointless if tires sizes go all the way up to 54's. They must have a point in why they make bigger tires than 37's then.

I most likely wont go over 37's for now wile its driven on the road. But when and if its ever a trailer rig 44's maybe :notsure:

Shit starts breaking on bigger tires..unless you start upgrading birfs, longs, knuckles..a stock Toy axle you'll rip the 4 stud knuckle with anything bigger then 37s if you get in a bind, and most likely crack a birf..if not destroy it.

Anything you can do on 40+, I can do on 35s...it's about the driver and how you built your rig..not how tall your rig sits, or the biggest tire you can stuff under it.

and tire sizes go to 54 for other reasons, not for rock crawling..yeah sure you see full on rock comp buggies running 42s but that's a different story..those things run those for a reason..they are a low COG with a huge clearance tire for ledges and nasty step ups..that's why. Plus they are called comp buggies for a reason..

37s are the right mixture IMO..enough clearance but still not too nasty..35s will do the same job though.

Do a engine swap. Put a 350 in. One of my buddies is thinking about doing that to his 95 toyota pickup 4x4 ext. cab. You need to do this along with getting big 37's and the SAS. It would be a good project for you. Do it all at once.

Tons are cool but you can build a Toy axle to be stronger then a D60..or stronger then any other front axle you could find out there...it's just all about the money. It sucks though because Toy axle would look dumb underneith a Tacoma..you'd need a FJ60/80 housing at least to get the right WMS..but that 65" will stick you plenty..if I remember right my truck with the 63" WMS will stick my wheels out 4" farther on each side then they are now..but i'm going to measure today to verify.

and if you REALLY wanna fuck around, take a FJ80 then add everything from a Toy axle(Bobby Longs, Marlin Birfs, Six shooters, Marlin HD's,Yukon cryo's, gussets,) plus you get a 9.5" ring gear if you wanna play with the big boys...and it's high pinion.
The frame would twist in half before the axle broke..especially 37s..you'll never fuckin break anything..hell 37s on tons you'll never break anything either lol..just don't go on Pirate or Marlin..all those dickfucks will be like 37s on tons? What a waste. Shut up, it's not your rig. I hate internet warriors.

Hence why I'm going FJ80 lol, plus it's Toyota..

Anyways don't wanna sit here and argue on your build thread Jerry, goodluck i'll watch progress..I'll keep my eye out if anybody wants those Expo's

Yeah i thought about going with a FJ80 housing but this axle just fell into my lap so I'm doing tons and when my truck is a truggy I can toss on the 42's or 44's without worrying about it.
