Dealership Wheel damage

3 out of 4 wheels are damaged after i went in for the 5000 mile service. I guess the dumbass couldnt hold the impact straight. Planned on powdercoating but this is a gouge. Am i being too picky?

 

It's one of those scratches where only if you know it's there, you're gonna see it.

The powder is going to fill that minor void, and (I'm assuming you're going with black powder coat) you're going to lack the contrast to see any significant blemish in the finish.

But.... Since it's your truck and a tech at the dealer caused it, talk to the service manager and see if they can get you a replacement rim, or even credit towards a repair.

 

I don't think you're being too picky. Question is, do you feel strong enough about it to fight with the dealer to get them to fix it? Had my first service done a couple months back and the dipshit apparently left a small scratch on my drivers fender where apparently his button on his shirt hit the top of the fender when he leaned over to change the filter. It is very minor but pissed me off. But I figure it would be my word against theirs and that it's not big enough to argue over. I may say something if I take it back for the 2nd service, haven't decided if I'll go back or do it myself yet.

They are responsible for that. I would go in and talk with the service manager. Be prepaired for "they were like that already" from the service manager. Be calm, if he is no help thank him and find the customer service manager for the dealer. I don't think you are going to have a problem getting this resolved. If none of this works contact Toyota.

 

From what I've encountered over the years dealing with tire shops you can allways expect some damage to the wheels anytime they touch them. You could grip about it but chances are every time you get the tires rotated your going to see some evidence that they were worked on...personally I wouldn't worry about it.

 

Dealer did the same thing to me at my 5k oil change. Meh I didn't really care my wheels are covered in mud from wet dirt roads and will stay that way for the rest of the winter.

 

You have every right to on damage to a wheel in that area of that wheel..that is unnecessary.


I personally wouldn't care.
1. I don't go to the dealership
2. My wheels are more banged up from other shit
3. I don't go to the dealership

 

Personally, If I were in that situation, I would voice my concern that I'm upset they scratched it. I wouldn't go as far as making them pay for new wheels because those scratches are minor and you'll get far worse scratches just from everyday driving in the future. I would maybe ask if they'll give you a free oil change or tire rotation to compensate you for the damages.

Fuck that man. Go back in there and raise hell. Your truck is brand new, doesn't need any imperfections yet. My dealer has never put 1 scratch in my powder coated wheels, I would expect every dealership to be the same.

 

I purchased a new 2007 Tundra TRD off the lot with BBS 18" wheels installed($2600 package at the time), had an issue within the first week and the dealer had to "road force test" the wheel/tire. After having my truck for over 10hrs I picked it up at night and forgot to look at the job (just wanted my truck back). Got up the next morning and FLIPPED out, each wheel was worse than the pictures you posted. I headed back to the dealership and attempted to get something done... The manager came out and flat out denied any involvement with the scratches and damage to the rims. He stated they used insulated sockets and said it could not happen. They refused to do anything about it and I had no idea where to go from there...

Point to the story? good luck and CHECK YOUR TRUCK prior to leaving... I sincerely hope it goes better for you than it did for me!

Fuck that. Go raise hell! Although, you probably should've pointed it out right then and there. Now, they'll just say "How do we know you didn't do it?".

 

You have to make this decision BEFORE leaving the dealership. Your claims will have significantly less merit now. That being said, I think you have every right to complain. It just may be a little too late for that now.

 

I would definitely bring it to their attention .
