Anyone know of a 2nd Gen Tacoma in a salvage yard?

I cannot find anything around here.

I am looking for the “S8” connector. It is in the steering column on the passenger side on the column next to the steering wheel.

I need a replacement one since I messed mine up trying to get what turned out to be the wrong size pin into it for the cruise control I was installing.

There may be a couple more wires in the plug depending on the year.

If anyone can help me out, on this, please let me know. I’ll cover the cost of the part, shipping to get it to me and add something into the deal to cover some beer money.

If you can find one, try to get as much of the wiring going into the harness as you are able.

Please see the attached photo for location of the plug.

    Regards, Rick.

I found http://www.alltoyotatrucksuvparts.com and I have sent them an email.

Most of what I have run into, the salvage yard wants to sell the dash wiring harness intact or sell the whole dash.

I was hoping someone might know of a “pick your own” where they might not mind a customer pulling a portion of the harness.

A lot of the yards up here have cleared out a good portion of their stock in advance of winter.

Any further help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Regards, Rick.

can you pop that pin out and show us a picture of it? pins are replaceable if you know what it looks like...male or female? do you have the extraction tool?

I was supplied with the wrong sized pin, the tech line said that sometimes the pins go in tight and it may take some effort to get the pin into the connector.

It ended up bending over and when I tried to straighten it, it broke.

I ordered a pin extractor tool but the pins on the tool are too big. It looks like I need something in the order of 0.5 mm (0.020”).

I though if I could easily find a new connector that it would be the low effort way of dealing with this.

I plan to give the problem a rest for a bit and re-attack in a weekend or so.

    See attached pic for info.

RJ, I'm not sure if this is the right size pin connector you are lookin for but I used a pin connector from radio shack plug kit (PN 2740242) when I broke the original pin connector to my temp controls.

It is a round end but slid right over the flat terminal and holds fine

Thanks - I'll check that out. RS may have the correct size extractor too.

The main problem is that I have a stuck pin and a broken pin in the cruise control wiring slots on a damaged connector.

I either need to get the broken pins out or replace the connector out so I can get the cruise wiring pins into the correct slots.

I figured the easiest thing to do would be to get a salvage yard connector and splice it in place.
