Anyone know anything about the new droid razr? I am still on my og droid, have had it since the day it came out 2yrs ago. Got a email from verizion about the the razr, its the first phone that has cought my interest.

Will this phone be worth my upgrade? Also how much will my bill change with going to 4g? Not sure if it will change since I already have the unlimited data plan (the verizion rep told me my bill will not change). Last time they told me my bill will stay the same it jumped up $40 so I would like to hear it from other verizion customers.

    What are your opinions?

the bill shouldn't change if u have the unlimited data, if you don't then u will have to enter a tiered plan, which suck compared to the unlimited,
I too am considering this phone bc 4g just came to my area, the phone is supposed to be awesome, gorilla glass front, Kevlar backing, moisture resistant coating, 4g is awesome! way better than 3g.

non-removable battery, and locked bootloader is steering me off from it. also with the galaxy nexus s with ice cream sandwich is making it a hard decision. If you like the qwerty of the OG droid, there are making the next droid for that line up with the keyboard and it looks pretty sexy.

Thanks, if the bill stays the same I don't mind upgrading to a 4g phone.

The non removable battary dosnt bother me too much, you can still hard shutdown by holding the volume and power button. Where are pictures of the next droid? I love my keyboard, main reason I havnt upgraded but this phone has about had it.

Well, then you are in luck.

Android phones are released damn near daily. Here's another phone to quench your indecision.

    EDIT: no confirmed release date.

part of the reason i gave up on android. too many phones, too many versions of android to keep track of.

i switched to iphone and am pretty happy.

there is NO extra charge for 4g (yet) if you already have the 3g data pack. also, if you havent changed the plan in a while, you can be grandfathered in for unlimited. they will have to pry the unlimited data pack from my cold dead hands.

Get the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Out this month around Thanksgiving if not sooner. Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) and OS updates are prioritized for the Nexus line. LTE won't change your plan (until Verizon does a company wide change). Galaxy Nexus has a phenomenal camera. My Droid3 camera kinda sucks.

Trust me, I'm a total phone geek. This coming from a guy replying on my phone... :) Seriously, I follow tech 24/7. Get the Galaxy Nexus, you won't regret it. But the Droid RAZR would be my second or third pick (HTC Rezound).

HTC Rezound and Galaxy Nexus have 720p HD screens. That's TRUE high def.

They are KILLING me with this stupid Nexus delay. Please don't turn into another Bionic lol....

Wait for awhile and get the Nexus. I still have OG Droid as well, and I think its finally on its last legs.... still runs like a champ, but failures in the hardware are popping up. I bought it the day the Droid came out :D

Nexus Prime was slated to be out around the first of this month....but the latest info shows them pushing the Razr until Black Friday, and the day after releasing the Nexus Prime. Sounds like it will be under the radar... and not a focus phone like the Razr.

QUIT TOYYING WITH ME VERIZON haha....

Also, Nexus Prime will release with Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) and word has it, it will be bloatware free. Another plus... maybe I wont actually need to root this one :D

As for keyboards, the newer phones are alot better with the virtual keybaords. My wife has a DX and the keybaord is much easier to use on that screen vice my OG Droid.

Well, I decided to stay away from the razr and I just dont like the look of the Nexus so I will be ordering the droid 4 whenever its available.

I love the way my phone feels and the size, no reason to leave that style, plus it will be awesome to have numbers keys!

Iv only read good reviews, I just am not sure on the only touch aspect. I work at a metal fab shop, my hards are always dirty/black and dont like to work on my touch screen, its nice being able ot slide it open and use real keys.

If I didnt work where I do, I would have the razr.

I have an Atrix with the Lapdock accessory. Motorola recently allowed users to unlock the bootloader (about a year after released). It voids the phone warranty if you do it though. They updated it pretty frequently too. It came with Froyo and now has Gingerbread. I'm not sure if it will have ICS but my guess would be probably. I haven't found a need yet to unlock the boot loader.

The lapdock accessory is pretty cool. Stock, they give you the ability to use a full web browser (firefox on the Atrix). It's nice on airplanes since I can wifi with the phone but browse with the lapdock (cheaper to buy access for a phone than a laptop).

Some developers over at XDA-developers.com made a way to boot the lapdock into a full debian linux kernel. I did the mod and now have a linux desktop which is powered by my phone. I imagine they'll use the same technique on the Razr.

Here's a screenshot of my lapdock's desktop. I have Open Office, Gimp and XFCE4 installed on it (plus Ice Weasel which is another Firefox browser) (on the right is my phone's screen). I can also put the screen up on the TV through the multimedia kit:

I have had the RAZR for about a week now, and I love it. 4g is FAST, but uses alot of battery. With it on 3g (you can set it to stay 3g, and turn on 4g when you want to download somthing), Im getting an easy 15 hours out of it, and still at 60 to 70% battery with light use. Ice Cream Sandwich is going to be installed on these phones in a couple months as a free upgrade, and it should be better then! So far, I have no complaints. The 1780 mah battery is plenty for the phone, and being non removable doesnt bother me. Evidently, they needed to make it non removable so as to keep the phone "Splash resistant" to water.

I think I have decided to wait on the Nexus instead of getting the Rzar. My OG Droid is running painfully slow and has been for about 6 months now. But I heard the Nexus will not have a bunch of VZW pre installed shit on it. +5 for me
