I want to get an HID kit! I have read all the ups and downs posted on here about people's experiences. I do drive alot, and what am I to do if the ballasts go out? Carry some H4 factory replacements with me?! Can someone please talk me into some brand of HID kit that I should be happy with. They are freaking cool!!:D

Go to The Retrofit Source dot com. Get the Morimoto projectors if you don't want to do alot work and get the phillips bulbs and matsushita or denso ballasts if you are worried about ballasts.

Ive always had better luck with the german "style" ones. Those super cheap chinese ebay ones are ok, but I dont run em on dual h4 beams. They do the job for my fogs and are fairly bright.

Yeah, they say lifetime warranty, but when something goes out try getting a hold of them. DDM's customer service is terrible

Don't know about that. I had a ballast go bad long time ago. I emailed them through their service page, as they tell you to do. They got back to me within 1 day and even then they said, "sorry we did not get back to you sooner". They told me to check system, confirm ballast and send to them. They sent one back. Done deal.

Seems like a pretty good warranty to me. No questions asked that were unreasonable and they replaced the unit.

Just saying this, since so many people ay DDM's service is bad. I did not experience that at all.

As a side note: When they send you back a new part, it will take a while because it will ship directly from the manufacturer, be it from China, Taiwan, Mars or another galaxy...

As a second side note: I am selling this kit if you are interested OP. I just bought projectors, so I do not really need these anymore. Loved them. Probably will sell them locally though as I cannot use them on my Jeep or bike.

Thats strange because I had a bulb go out after less than a week and I have been emailing them for months trying to get the fucking thing replaced. The last email I received from them told me to test the bulb with another ballast to check it which I had already done and I haven't gotten a response since.

Did you respond on their site? They have a customer support part in their site in which you log in. In the emails they sent me it always said to contact them through there. I imagine if you email them in the normal way, it might get sent to an unsupervised email. For me it took a couple days for them to give me the RMA and for me to send them the part. I had to test the ballast and that was the only delay. They told me to make sure to only send the bad part, as they would test them.

^^ This... Do it right. Don't just drop an HID kit into the stock housing, they aren't made to correctly aim the light. Retrofitting your stock housing with projectors and an HID kit is by far the best light output you can get. You'll get a nice wide beam with a clean cut off so you don't blind oncoming traffic.

DDM all the way! Cant beat the price $60 for a kit with ultra slim ballasts! Walk in the park installation. 10+ ppl that I run with have them, no one has ever had a single problem with them....

Because its cheaper, and everyone is always all about budget mods. Adjust them downward so your killing the oncoming traffic, done! I've got the 6000K DDM's and its seriously day time coming down my neighborhood streets at night.
