The buffett at The Showboat is really good. Though if memmory serves it is a bit pricey, so make sure to skip a meal before going to get your money's worth.

And even if you don't gamble go to The Borgota for the scenery (by scenery I mean the cocktail waitress') (think evening gown meets lingere)

 

Look for somone behind the desk and ask them where they would go eat. I have found some pretty neat places that way and a lot of hotel staff don't make a boatload of money either. Even if you are on expenses coming in with reasonable amounts will make you look good to your boss.

seems like normal blue stuff is usually rated to 25F. There's several kinds out there that go lower (like -25f). Most I've seen are purple or yellow. Look for "deicer" or something labeled with a temperature rating of -25F or lower. (hit -29F a couple winters ago.... surprised the coolant in my car didn't freeze...)

Or buy one of those things that heats the washer fluid!

 

and DON'T forget to put in the winter blend of turn signal fluid either, because it's a pain in the ass when those things freeze up

 

the stuff i bought is pinkish orange, but it says De-icer wiper fluid on the bottle...so if you can read, which i'm 40% positive that you can, you shooooould be able to find it

elaborating on your point a bit further, i was thinking about wiring up a heating pad/device and wrapping it around the wiper fluid reservoir so that the fluid would be warm enough to melt all of the ice and snow on the windshield, and it wouldn't freeze at the tip of the sprayers....just a thought i had...

 

so they actually make something like that already? i was just gunna improvise and make my own

 

Sorta... It heats the washer fluid before spraying it on the windshield so it melts ice. Not sure how well it would prevent the reservoir from freezing. But heating fluid to 150F means your nozzles and tubes will thaw quickly!

I thought about getting one, but the truck seems to warm up enough to thaw the fluid. My car will freeze solid, but the truck seems to get hot enough to prevent that. Also warms up a hell of a lot quicker to clear the windshield with the air vents.

Actually, this would be perfect. If I understand correctly, it circulates the fluid in the reservoir through itself to heat it, and uses the stock equipment to pump and spray. So it'll heat the whole reservoir of washer fluid rather than heat it inline between reservoir and nozzles like I originally thought. As long as some of the fluid is liquid, you should be fine.

Never mind, my initial thought was correct. It heats it inline. You must have to turn it on, wait 30 seconds for it to heat up (and maybe whatever fluid is in the device already), then spray, or leave it in standby to hold the temperature. If your fluid freezes over night, or over the weekend you're still screwed unless you can thaw the reservoir.

 

Anybody ever try the RainX brand of washer fluid?...In my last truck I used it and loved the results.It made water bead off the windshield really well after using it,but I don't remember it thawing frost particularily well,or preventing the sprayer from freezing.As a matter of fact,one of my pet peeves with that truck was the passenger side sprayer freezing constantly,no matter what was in the reservoir.....I wonder if RainX has a winter formula?

 

I ran rainx for a while in my car. Loved how it made the water bead up and run off. I never remember to rub the stuff on the windshield, so adding it to the fluid worked great. Seems like my reservoir still froze with that stuff when it dropped below zero, or the fluid froze as soon as it hit the windshield. I ended up switching over to deicer, but you have to use it all before summer comes. If not, it evaporates too quickly and left streaks.

Even that stuff didn't really help clear ice off the windshield though. Rather it just didn't freeze right away. I still had purple colored snow and ice on the front of the car.

That hot shot looks nice, but what happens if the reservoir freezes? Or the tube between the reservoir and hot shot? It should thaw out the nozzles and hose from hot shot to nozzles, but only if it can pull fluid from the reservoir to heat up.

 

i'm gunna have to try out that RainX stuff in the spring...but as far as the reservoir goes, i think my idea of just putting a heating pad from like a reptile cage or something would do the trick

 

Areas in an EPA "non attainment area" in some parts of the country can legally sell only washer fluid with [X] amount methanol (8% I think). Has +20-25º freeze point. So you add a little alcohol yourself to lower freeze temp, and might as well add 2 tbs of ammonia (pine or lemon are nice) so it actually cleans also, or you go out of the non attainment area and stock up. Some do sell a lower freeze point IN the the non attainment areas, but it has a glycol type base and it thick and slimy, and doesn't smell nice either. About 10-12 counties in the metro Atlanta area are "NA" areas.
