Got hit by a deer on friday while headed to Lake Placid, NY. I swerved in time to not hit it with the front bumper. Antler crease above the flare, a few broken fender flare clips and a scuff. I got lucky as hell!
I didn't see where it went. I was too busy trying to stay in my lane doing 75mph. I didn't see any mass slowdown afterward though.

I have a used 1/2" IR I would sell you for $75. All metal, works well. I used it till I got the titanium model. Good for hobby use, but too damn heavy for working in a shop all day/week.

Check that the startup wattage wont exceed the outlet's rating. If not, it's a good choice. A more powerfull inverter will probably be required, though.
An onboard air system would probably be more cost effective, if you offroad.

I used an impact with a small pancake compressor. It works; you have to wait for it to cycle often. It's good for trail repairs and small maintenance jobs.
I agree that a larger volume compressor would be better.
