New Firestone AT's and After market mudflaps installed

I'm about 3 weeks late but better late then never. I got new Firestone Destination AT's (255/70/16) and a pair of after market mudflaps from JC Whitney. These are much shorter then the stock taco flaps so i will have less ground rub!

The mudflap victory was short lived because pep boys doesn't carry Toyota "push pins" that came on the original mud flaps and the GMC/Universal pins i got didn't go deep enough and lock into position tight enough. So i took them off and i guess I'll have to goto toyota and get the ones that they used. Why couldn't Toyota just use screws

Do those flaps already lineup with the holes or are they generic fit ones that you had to drill to make the holes work?

had to drill them out. took some time to figure out the best way but what i ended up doing was using a few sewing needles because they stabbed into the plastic easily, and lined them up with the holes in the truck. Then drilled them out after i marked the holes.

 

Aren't they great tires? I love mine, had them on for about a year.

 

yea so far so good! haven't had a chance to take them offroad yet but looking to. a little more rubbing then my 245/65's since they are a tad bigger but hopefully one day i'll be rich enough for a lift.

 

You have rubbing with 255/70/16?

 

^Good question because I have no rubbing with my larger tires.

 

i had rubbing from time to time with my stock dunlops (245/65). you guys dont? it comes at random time. when i got these put on i asked about rubbing and the mech. looked at my stock's and said that it wouldn't be any different but that my 245's rubbed the steering column i think is what he said.

should i get this looked at?

 

I have no rubbing from my stock 265/70/16 rugged trails. I have never heard of anyone with rubbing with stock tires. Although that doesn't mean it never happens, conventional wisdom is that you can get away with an up-size to 265/75/16 with no rubbing.
