EPi9 is pretty much same price as M8000 because the EPi is discontinued.

Pros of EPi: 9000lb capacity, a LOT less voltage draw, integrated solenoid (more weatherproof), external brake (better for synthetic line if i go that route in the future)

Pros of M8000: A hair faster.

Name means nothing, since Superwinch is well known around the world.

i will tell you the only downfall of the xrc series is that after time the free spool is a pain in tha ass.......i just let it out now......
i hear if you change the grease in the planetary gears it solves the issue....
and if you get one re do the gaskets on the soleniod....

Rich just told me to stay away from Smittybilt. He said that Quadratec told him that they were the most returned winch they sold.

Leaning towards the XRC8 now. I can get it loca, or from Amazon for 299. Many have suggested selling the wire rope and fairlead and getting synthetic.

Good topic, reminds me I still need to put a winch on my bumper... I will be going with synthetic for sure, not a clue on what is a decent winch. I would like to keep it under $800, want someting that works decent and not have any issues with water over time.
