Do you put weight in back of your truck?

My camper shell gives me plenty of weight

 

I'm about to test that theory

 

I have a Snugtop shell and just put 3 60lb. bags of tube sand in the bed. I hit some black ice a couple weeks ago spun a wild 360 on US2 headed toward Stevens Pass. I didn't hit anything but I scared the shit out of the oncoming driver that I passed doing 50mph backwards. My shell was not enough weight alone...so I got some sand.

And I can't stop thinking about a second set of Duratracs studded for winter.

 

No but when it did one year, a friend of mine loaded his 4-wheeler in the bed for the weight and then if he had to he had it as back up transportation. Wish I still had my qaud.

 

I'm putting it to the test everyday and it's helping big time even when I go offroad

I'll keep the gas tank full and I just put a 60 pound bag of sand on each side of the rear axle. Should be good. Plus I have dedicated snow tires.

 

I run four 50 lb bags of sand over the axle in mine. I just picked up some of the play ground sand at Lowes.

In general, I agree with you Ken. I thought that the front dif isn't spinning in 2WD, though? Otherwise the front drive shaft would be spinning, too.

2 - 70lbs bags of sand from Menards over the axle. Dedicated Blizzak's tires for winter time.

 

A 36" x 36" piece of 3/4 plate does the trick for me but I really should fasten it to the bed floor. If I'm ever in a wreck it will probably take somebodys head off.

I voted "no" but it's kind of a lie. I have a tool box that probably weighs about 150~lbs thats always in the bed, not just winter time.

 

I have 120# over the axle. I put another 120# once it snows. Was ok last winter with 240# and the stock dunlops. I have more aggressive tires now but still plan on keeping the extra weight in the bed.
