Blacked out grille and emblems, that's about it for now
Hey guys I posting this from the (new members) forum. I have a 2010 tacoma double cab T.r.d. I bought it brand new last December I just reached 9300 miles on it. From the second month of ownership I had a bad smell from the passenger side floorboard like old socks. I keep my truck exceptionally clean. My wife. Brought it to my attention several times she also stated she heard water sloshing around from the floor. Numerous times the carpet was soaked. The other morning there was a huge puddle of water on the floor and it made it to the rocker panel. I thought it was a windshield leak. I ran a hose over the window for over a hour no leaks. I pulled the carpet back hosed the firewall down and water poured in down the kick panel to the floor. Both my wife and I watched water shoot out from the rubber grommets on the floor. I took them out and the double walled floorboard was overfilled with nasty black and rusty water. The smell was totally foul . I immediately took it to the dealership and they acted like. No big deal I called a friend that works for a insurance company and he stated that's water damage and the I couldn't be repaired since it was inside the truck and more than likely it would rot out in no time. I'm going to call Toyota today. Has this happened before? I'm so upset . All the electronics were soaked also. The truck has been in 4 times due to the fact I'm averaging 10 to 12 mpg. The dealer replied every time ( no errors on the computer) this has been going on since the second tank of gas since new. If anyone can help lead me in the right way please help. I just hope corp Toyota will help thanks again

Sucks ass. Good luck with it. Push and push and let them know that you have been letting dealer know something has been amiss since purchasing and now this.

Damn that sucks..but I have to say just about anything is repairable. Sometimes it's just not worth it. And when wiring and water are involved together, that's a tricky situation, especially in a place like that. I'm afraid I don't really have any advice on what to do. All I can say is good luck and keep us posted.

That sucks about the water, hopefully Toyota helps you out. As far as the mileage, I'm guessing that's a result of your driving habits. Keep your foot out of it, don't race off the line and you'll see substantial improvements.

Have you checked to see if the a/c condensate line is clogged?
If it gets clogged the water that drains from the a/c will soak the carpet on the passenger side. There should be a small hose, somewhere under the passenger side of the truck, near where the firewall is. You can take a wire and run it up to clear the clog.
this is the most common problem when you get water on the passenger side floor. After reading your post again, it seems like the water was coming out of the grommets when you were hosing it? If so I guess the a/c condensate wouldn't do that. I just had a little trouble understanding your issue.

Hey Deano, I grew up in Southfield, I would push Toyota corporate to have the dealer fix this issue. I had to get corporate after a dealer who was blowing me off for 6 weeks about a issue. One phone call to corporate and the dealer
magically had the parts to fix the problem. Be firm about what you want done. Good luck and God bless

That sucks about your truck hopefully Toyota will remedy the situation and get your truck all fixed up. BTW I grew up just south of you in Flat Rock (where the mustang/mazda plant is right off of I-75).

    GO WINGS!

I had the same issue with a dodge conversion van, turns out it was missing caulk in one of the body seals. I suspect it is fixable, and it sounds like trapped water between body panels.

    Keep after toyota until resolution...

They may be able to fix the sheet metal, i would be concerned about water ingress into the wireing harness, that could give you problems for years to come as things start to corrode

There was a thread here on tw where another member had the same exact problem as you.

Since the ac inlet is at the base of the windshield on the passenger side, water can get in if not properly covered.

He made his own cover that went inside that inlet that allowed air in but not water or debris.

Hopefully someone can find that thread because I can't at this moment.
