do they squirm when you corner? how does the sidewall feel? soft or does it have good support?

i've watched some of their videos and in some slalom tests they didn't look good at all, but obviously hard to tell w/out actually driving on them.

any feedback regarding the handling part?, huge thank you!

I haven't noticed them squirm in a corner but I don't drive it like a sports car either. I also have a stiffer suspension so it's generally much better in the corners over stock anyways. The stiffer coils don't let the truck dive into corners. I have taken a few corners at a good pace with the Coopers and have not been able to make them chirp or break loose (obviously if you go fast enough you can but you have to work at it).

Funny you mention the sidewalls though, I had the sidewall start to separate on my older ATR's and one of the causes I got from the tire shop was excessive cornering... I'll be keeping an eye on these for the same type of failure but even at the end of the old ATR's life, they always felt confident in a corner. I hope this helps, I'll have another 50 miles on them today through curvy backroads (my daily commute). I'll put up some comments on the cornering when I get back.

To follow up, they're not a performance tire but they can certainly hang on in a corner! I took a 25 mph off ramp at 60 and they held on great. End of the day though, they're an A/T tire so they have their limitations when on the road.

Fink, sorry, I forgot to put pics on this thread, I put them in the other 2 but here they are!

The coopers look good on 17's! Did you stick with the stock size?

Honestly I haven't experienced any noise whatsoever. They are so much quieter and smoother riding than the dunlops I had.

    Nope, I went to 265/70R17.

They're not bad noise-wise for an A/T tire but I notice a slight howl at speed with them. It's not bad now but I want to wait and see what they are like when they age. My ATR's got louder as they got older. For an A/T tire though, I think you'd be hard pressed to find one that's quieter.

Tires came in, and went on today. Relatively content with the look...Now that they're on I wish I could go just a little wider and taller without a lift.

Overall content...especially happy with the wheel choice

    Report on the wheels:
Same thing everyone else has said above. On a scale of 1-10
    Price 9
    Looks 6.5
    Handling 8

(other ratings to come..I only put them on about 3 hours ago)

I agree. I kinda wish I could have gotten a wider/taller tire. But I still think it gives it a more rugged look. I had a guy stop me at a local sheetz and asked me where the heck I got trd wheels. He had some moto metals on his first gen.

    1,000 Update:
    • Wearing well (only 1k miles, so they should be)
    • Great in the rain and snow
    • Ride is decent for an AT
    • Noticed alot of feedback in the steering wheel while taking corners when the tires were new. After about 300 miles that feedback deminishes quite a bit.
    • Toyota rotated the tires at the 25K checkup (without checking...then charged wwaaaaay to much...thanks alot for the visual inspections so you could tack on an additional $40) and when the tires are rotated as the 4x4 tires are supposed to be (diagonally), the tires ride rough for another 300 miles then seat in.
Recommendation: This is preference thing, but I'll post it anyway. I wouldn't recommend rotating the tires as is suggested for a 4x4. I know of two people that have followed this guideline and broken steel belts. The tires have settled into rotating one direction and when that changes it creates additional stress causing the belts to break. Take this advice as you will; I can tell you these coopers did NOT like the recommended rotation what soever so I'll stick the fronts to backs only method.
Overall still happy. Gas mileage hasn't suffered all that much coming from the stock dunlop street treads, and these coopesr are good on and off road. tires are still pretty much brand new, so time will tell as they wear. More to come.
