    Sound advice!
Sorry for your woes, Man, but my brother the Cop calls something like this a case of Whip-cash. Soft tissue injuries, and those to the neck, can hide and show up later, be long lasting and painful.
I've been hit by cars while walking, and in collisions and one rollover. You'll feel worse before you feel better.
Many lawyers take a case like this on free, and they take a cut after a payout (which is often a standard amount). Your laws are probably different, but I would make sure I got what I got comin'.
And trust me, if the situation was reversed, you could be taken for all you have.

Wow, good to see that you are ok. Hate seeing this happen, and sadly it's happening more and more around here with these red light runners. Hope the insurance takes care of it for you and you can get it repaired or even a new one. GL!

It's an 89 Toyota Pickup. I got some stuff done to it.. FJ axles going under it soon.
Always go to the hospital or a doctor IMMEDIATELY after a accident, no matter how small.
Because in the long run you will thank yourself on the legal paper side..you don't know how many times people get in an accident, then realize there not getting money out of it..so they go fake something or intentionally hurt themselves after the accident..and claim it was from said accident.
An immediate visit will rid those claims or suspicion always.

Plus it's just always good, you can't feel internal damage till it really starts to mess you up..then sometimes it's too late.
Sorry to hear about the truck, good reason to pick up a 1st Gen Tacoma. :D

Personally, I say get a new one if you can. I know taco's are tough as nails, and I know that they're easy to fix and dont usually have problems after they get fixed a car accident can really cause you problems. When you get her information, go to a mechanic/autobody place you can trust and have them give you an estimate on whats damaged and GET A LIST of whats wrong. If the frame is bent, new truck immediately, something like that is often too hard to fix correctly unless you pull basically everything off of the frame and put it into a special machine to straighten it, but this will mean the frame will be weaker than before and you may not be as lucky in another accident or it could bend more easily if you take it 4x4ing. But, all I really have to say is that SHE hit you. That means SHE is going to have to pay for the damage to your taco so yes, you might have to go with out for a little while but when I got in an accident (Imagine that, a woman hit me as well) her insurance paid for all the repairs to my car and paid for a rental when the car was in the shop.

thanks again to everyone and for all of your kind words and support! my truck is currently at the toyota dealer collision's shop. the insurance adjuster is going to get back in touch with me soon, i hope.

i am due to see a dr, monday morning. no open slots today. been debating whether or not to first see a chiropractor or my medical dr. first. did some research and it might be best to see my Dr. first. never know if a chiropractor might do further damage, if not knowing whats wrong first?

also got some free legal advice from an accident lawyer and i just need to see how things pan out here, before deciding on whether or not to hire them. seems like the lawyer recommends me going to one of his recommended chiropractors before i see my medical dr., which seems kind of odd.

will know more soon to come. was able to get a rental today, which gives me some comfort to get around.

Glad you are OK , hopefully you dont feel worse today. FYI...Sometime's a vehicle will have frame damage and a bodyshop will still present a repair quote because they want the work. Believe me....you dont want them to repair it if your frame is damaged. Better to make them total it in most circumstances. My wife had this happen to her in her Mercedes, re-ended on the freeway. The body shop wanted to fix it, but your vehicle will never be the same. My wife is a licensed insurance sale's person and used to be a AAA adjuster, so she knew they were tryin to work her over and wasn't going to let it happen. She made them total her car, pay her off for what the car was worth and we bought a lexus. BEWARE !!!

Glad to hear you are OK. Get checked out with your personal physician. Don't go to any doctor that an attorney recommends. They are about the almighty dollar. And last, if you were sitting here with me I can show you statistics that people without an attorney actually net more in their settlements. Their take is 33%. Do the math. Insurance companies are a business. They pay less and you get more if you do not have an attorney. This is a fact, not a myth. You definitely will be sore tomorrow and the next few days. Sit still this weekend. I hope everything works out for you. We all love our trucks here but it is just metal on wheels. You can't be replaced.

Good advice...I would add to that, don't accept the first number the insurance throws out at you to pay you off. They always start low.....but have room to increase your pay out for vehicle and injury. Trust me, my wife used to be the one throwing out the # for AAA. When the shoe was on the other foot after her accident, she didn't let them F$%K with her. She got @ 30% more overall.

I see these thread all the time and I think we ALL take things for granted until its too late. Im sure many of us have lost someone or known someone who passed from a car accident. It happens EVERYDAY. We see it on the news all the time. I have been driving for 10 years now and have been in 13 documented car accidents. NONE were my fault. Thank God for watching over you and take time to tell others that you love them. You NEVER know when you will be taken away. Everything else can be replaced. You cannot be. Thank God you are ok and not seriously hurt.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Damn buddy glad you are okay! It looks like it may be repairable depending on how much damage there has been done to the engine or if the frame is bent that is pretty much a fatal blow to any vehicle sadly. Hopefully her insurance pays for whatever the costs of fixing and or replacing your truck if need be

thanks. spoke to the adjuster at the collision center today. just by visual he told me the frame is bent and would need to be replaced. if this is the case, have them total it? or is it worth them replacing, with a whole new entire frame? it is even possible to do so?

he was talking way over 16k for everything but said he hasnt finalized all the figures. still waiting for the other person's insurance to accept the liability and wondering whether to go forward with my statement to them, since i was not at fault anyway?

i checked the blue book on my truck and in good condition (which it was prior) is around, 17,182 (private party). compared to how much i still have left on the loan, upside down by around 2,700. im figuring good condition because of some minor pin strips. with it being white, u can hardly tell and would think it falls under very good, prior to the accident. sure they would try and low ball me to the fair value of, 15957.

First replacing a frame is possible toyota has done that in some of the first gen with rusty frames. I would have them total it if i were you. when my sister totaled my moms car the insurance amount was retail not private party. They also gave tt&l

Yep, likely totaled and they should pay you off, not replace the frame. Like I said previously, don't take there first offer. You can haggle with them on the vehicle and any injury compensation you have coming, goodluck !
