Lint roller works wonders in our trucks if you have dogs. F' the vacuum it doesn't get hair stuck to the carpet and cloth.

Easy way to stick stuff together for a temp hold. Not strong but sticky. Take your knife, and stick some chewed up gum to the tip and stick a mirror to it. Use a lure to catch stupid animals with the sweet smell. Gophers love the juicy fruit one.

I didn't know God worked like that....next time I get stuck I'll whip it out:D

This isn't a religion thread...they do have one out there if you want to go poke fun else ware. No one is trying to force anyone into carrying a Bible or reading one for that matter and there is no need to discuss the subject.

    Thanks brother!

    LOL.

For you guys wondering about the gum, we were always told it was used to deter hunger/dehydration and to help with sugar levels. Same with a pack of Charms/Life Savers. I'll say the Charms were always known by superstitious guys to be bad juju and you were supposed to throw them into the woods.

Coffee is to give your body caffeine, guys would use it as dip. It'll keep you awake and increase heart rate. Downside is it's also a diuretic and will dehydrate you, so keep that in mind if you have your morning coffee out on the trail before you set out for the day.

I'd also recommend an IR strobe. I keep one in my ruck. If you're ever out and lost in the wilderness, the search teams at night will be using NVG type camera's. An IR strobe will light you up like a red carpet event. I got mine from the Army but you can get them online. MS2000 is the model number and they go on ebay for about $60. It's how we identified ourselves to birds at night and other teams. Easy to see.

Looks like the 2nd edition just came out. It's only like $12 on Amazon, and it has a bunch of great info for anyone to use. Shelters, trapping/snaring, first aid, etc. Good overall book.

Good idea. Also having a firesteel as a back up is smart also. I have been collecting dryer lint and putting it in a ziplock bag in my BOB. It makes excellent tinder for the firesteel.

I've always kept a fairly stocked truck with most of the stuff listed in here, but since this thread I've added a small fire extinguisher, 100' of 550 paracord, a compass, and a small pair of binoculars.

Once work slows down and I have some time to shop around...I will be putting together at least one BOB.

I'll be gearing it towards an urban survival scenario (disease, natural disaster...).

rub vasaline into those cotton balls and you'll have a good cheap fire starter that'll burn for about 5min

edit, my g/f has been bugging me about making her a BOB so we did last weekend, it came out pretty good and light 17.8lbs which is pretty good considering mine weighs 32lbs lol
