    ahh I see....
I guess a little spacer is a lot cheaper than re-designing the springs to be a little stiffer

OME doesnt want to go much more than 590# for their light and medium coils. They have the 886 wich is 660# or so. Why, however, they dont design them driver and passenger side specific, Im not sure. They do for other vehicles.

What exactly is scragging, Chris? Is it some form of hardening?

Scragging a spring, or "pre-setting", is when the spring is compressed until all the coils are touching and then repeted. This sets up a favorable residual stress within the spring that allows higher design stresses than otherwise would be possible with an identical un - scragged spring, thereby makeing them less likely to settle or "Sag" after installation.

Any additional comments on the quoted question, anyone? Im trying to understand how a top plate spacer used in this situation is any different than using a top spacer in a level kit?

The OME top plates are 5mm to 10mm. On a 4x4, they should only be used to correct for sagging springs. OME also recomends the use of an after market UCA. The Top Plate spacers that are bad are the 1.5" ones (3") as they over extend the shock/spring combo. Any time you lengthen the shock/spring asy., you run the risk of damageing parts, and wearing out your ball joints very quickly. I dont really recomend the use of the OME spacers unless the springs have sagged, or an after market UCA is used.

Those are the Trim Packers. I only used one to level my truck. OME told me they had 5mm and 10mm Top spacers.........If they dont, I may look into makeing some.

You basically add the top plate spacer to lower the shock and get more preload out of it. It is a small spacer and people use it to correct the "taco lean" you get from the gas tank and bunch of added weight on the drivers side.
