you mean MT's as in mud terrain? im not exactly looking for a real good wheeling tire. i want a good A/T with the snowflake. from what ive read the grabber AT2s are really good in ice/snow.

 

I think he wants stock 4x4 wheels. I can offer mine up

 

BFG AT's have the snow flake. I think Goodyear Duratracs do as well

 

yeah well duratracs are sold out everywhere, and i have always run bfg a/t's. kinda just want something different

 

Yeah, they're hard to come by. I've gotten close to a few sets for dirt cheap but they tend to sell pretty quick. My next plan is to stock everyone with a 2004 STI and see if they'll sell. You were my first victim.

I got her a 09 Subaru Legacy GT. If she could drive a stick then I would have gotten her an STI but she can't, so I got her the next best thing. She'll have to be Mrs all.on.gray

The General Grabbers are supposed to be quite good, I think someone said Hankook as well.

If you buy online, they ship the tires to your door via UPS. You go to Costco or whereever and get them put on. Pretty standard.

Places I would shop:
Toyota - They just started their sale again where you buy 3, get the 4th for $1.
Craigslist
Treadwright
Discounttire/Americastire

Remember when you buy online to factor in the cost of mount + balance, etc.

 

i thought 900 for 265/70/17 grabbers was pretty good. thats mounted balanced and includes road hazard

Kinda gonna get shit on for this but if you watch 4wp they normally do "buy 3 get one free" for tires around black Friday and vets day. They have free shipping and mount and balance is only $15 a tire. I believe I only paid $820ish for my 285-70-R17 BFG KM2's last Christmas off these same deals. BUT!!!! My fellow TW peeps hate 4wheelparts

 

Everyone hates 4wp for different reasons.

I personally have never had a problem with them.

What is the difference between these 2

LT265/75R16E1 123Q W for $226.00

and

LT265/75R16C1 112Q W for $208.00

 

i think its the load rating. the main concern for me for buying the tires is that it needs to be somewhere here in corvallis. i cant drive all the way to another city and sit and wait for them to do it. i think i am gonna go with a local shop here with the grabber AT2s tomorrow.

 

hmmm. tirerack says i can get a set of 265/70/17C duratracs for 890 after the rebate. how much do places usually charge to mount and balance? 200?

LT265/75R16E1 123Q W is load range E = 10 ply sidewall. Weighs a little more. Max psi is ~80. Designed for full size.

and

LT265/75R16C1 112Q W is load range C = 6 ply sidewall. Not as stiff a ride on a lighter truck like Tacomas. Max psi is ~50.

 

Isn't the "E" range also a harder rubber? AKA last a little long?

 

So you're saying I should look at Range C, not E. Copy that

 

I don't think it has anything to do with rubber compounds, only load carrying capacity.

Yes, IMO E rated tires are overkill for our trucks. If you have a choice, go with the C rated tire. Some will make the argument that Es are better for offroad for sidewall durability. Not sure I buy that thinking.
