just my opinion, but I think selling these wheels together is better, these rims are going for a tad bit over 100 on ebay a piece, i think the good deal is because of the tires

Thanks supremetaco2. I think that my wife might object if I tried to pack wheels and tires for a Hawaiian vacation. :)

I believe $800 is fair for a next to mint set of OEM sport rims and rubber.

However, looks like TW isn't the best market for getting top dollar on these.

Keep in mind too that OEM tires have less tread depth than tires you buy from a tire store. My buddies new X-Terra, the tread depth was almost half that of the tire-store version.

I ended up plasti-dipping my wheels with a set of half-worn BFG AT tires and was thrilled to get anything over $400.

5100s (2.5" front), OEM Raptor wheels, 315/70/17 BFGs, Undercover, tint, Weathertechs.
Those tires are MUCH better than the Grandtreks that also come on the Sports. I had them as OEM on my '09 and I got 40K out of them, and they still had a good 20K on them when I upgraded.

OP, I was actually looking for an extra set of these wheels/tires just like this when I was upgrading because I was so happy with the tires and I figured I could make my current wheels winter beaters. I will tell you, when I was looking, I was seeing $400-$500 as my top price for wheels and tires in this condition, just as an FYI. GLWS, and if you've still got these sitting around past the new year, shoot me a PM, as I'll be needing new tires in the next year or so and would consider these at the right price.

Yep. Same make and model - same tread-pattern, only sometimes they'll be badged as "OEM".

Tire companies negotiate with the auto manufactures to make these spec. tires on the cheap - they'll look the same, but have a lighter side-wall and thinner tread-depth making lighter so the new car feels peppier and rides nicer all while using less materials.

The tires are typically engineered to last until just beyond the Warranty. So its why most of us rarely see much more than 30k miles out of the OEM tires, why we all say the OEM tires are junk - but then go to the tire-store, buy a similar tire, maybe even the same brand but see 50 - 70k miles of those.

Bridgestone and Goodyear make the shoddiest OEM tires IMHO. But Michelin makes crappy ones too. If you can negotiate for different tires when you buy your car/truck, you'll almost always come out ahead. The dealer doesn't usually want to tell you the OEM tire is crap when they're selling you a new car with new tires. :)

FWIW, I just sold the Grandtrek's off my new '11 Sport (just the tires, not the wheels), with around the same mileage as the OP's for $400 shipped. That is right about half what they cost "new" on the tire rack's website. I spent right around $700 on new rubber, so I was pretty happy with that.

hey, thanks a lot for the info, i had no idea, and i've been searching to find oem takeoffs cause they are priced significantly below what we would buy tires for... and of course the fact that they are used also has an impact

hey canyonchaser, i completely believe what you are saying about the tires, but i'm trying to read more about it, I'm wondering how widespread that knowledge is, could you point me in the the direction of where to read more on it? thanks

I don't think I've ever read about it. I learned this from working in the industry. :)
