Lol my craigslist posting got hacked and then flagged. Someone changed it to a Land Rover Discovery listing and listed the VIN as starting with "SALTY1245543"

    Changing my password there...

Amen! Good luck with your trade man.

So my dad has a 94' Toyota Pickup 4x4 with 196,xxx miles on it and informed me the other day that he still has everything original on it besides changing the water pump  So now I am wanting to get him a new suspension upgrade' preferably 3" or so since I'm sure his shocks/springs are worn the F out. I don't know shit about pick ups. Is it the same as Tacomas? I just want to change out his shocks(F/R), rear leaf springs and his torsion bar???(That's their UCA, right?)

Wheelers don't have anything for pickups..allpro has SAS stuff only. Some guidance, please?

Oh and he wants new tires since his current ones are pretty worn. I'm going to recommend treadwrights to him...$104/tire isn't bad IMO.

The old trucks don't have traditional coil springs in the front. They have those torsion bars. It's not another name for the UCA. It's a different kind of spring. It's a rod of spring steel that plugs into the frame about right under the drivers and passenger seat underneath. Then it plugs into the side of the UCA and as the UCA moves up and down the bar twists and springs back.

I HATE torsion bars. I feel like they always vibrate and make your ride quality complete shit. But Toyota used them from 86 when they started IFS until the "Toyota Pickup" became the Tacoma in 96 or whatever.

Also, to give you an idea of how much Chevy sucks - they STILL use Torsion bar suspension on their trucks. Even the super heavy duty stuff I believe.

If you want to get him a lift you can do two things:

    1. Buy him a new set of torsion bar adjusting bolts (they almost ALWAYS break if they haven't been adjusted in over 10 years) - not expensive. Then he can adjust the tension on the bars UP a bit and it will raise the front end of the truck. Ghetto rating = slight

    2. Buy him a set of ball joint spacers. This was the most common non-ghetto way of lifting an IFS truck with this older suspension. It's just a set of metal pads that install between the UCA and the steering knuckle. I will probably go this route if I ever end up having some extra cash to put into my 4Runner. Ghetto rating = almost none

You don't need E load tires. I would put the normal ones on back order and I'll bet you get them pretty quick. Tire rack moves a LOT of tires.

Negative. I am on extreme savings mode so the only driving I do is completely necessary. All fun driving is on hold pretty much. :(

Did a few more mods to the tundra, in the last couple of weeks.
I gave my wheels and tires to my wife for her sequoia (sold the excursion). Went with black wheels this time, and went one size bigger on the tires to a 295/70/18 in the nitto trail grappler m/t. The tires balanced out with very little weight, and ride out really nice. They are not a quite as my duratracs were but close. All in all they are my new favorite tires.

I also just installed some new N-Fab bars and just ordered some tow mirrors. The DVD headrest should be going in pretty quickly. then i will be done messing with this truck for a while.

here are a couple of pictures of my truck from this morning and also my wife's sequoia from the other day.

yes we did. i still can not believe it myself i thought we would keep it until it was time for the junk yard but sometimes you just get a wild hair and this was one of those times. it sold in 2 days (the second person to look at it) i was shocked by that also.

the new sequoia is really nice and to be honest i did not need a diesel anymore i have nothing big to tow.

i really like my Tacoma but i love my tundra it is by far my favorite truck i have owned!
i even took it up and did some wheeling in it. it did well (but i put a big!!!!!!!!! scratch in the passenger side, so went home and buffed it like 4 times. now you can only see it if you really look close)

Well your new setup on your truck looks good.

Good deal you were able to sell the Excursion private party. I'm sure you got big bucks compared to what you would have gotten for trade - in

I'm at Beaverton Toyota to get my oil changed, if you need service. I highly recommend this place. There are a few hot chicks working here. As long as they don't fuck my truck up, ill keep coming back here.

Also, I was walking around the lot and found 2 Tacoma's that were base model with a black radio and bezel. Was that only offered on the base model?

    Here is a bad photo
