i honestly think threads devoted to politics should always get closed....they start too much fuss. If i recall there was something in the off topic devoted to politics and it got closed.

As long as they dont turn into a poo flinging match , I like them to stay open. Personally, I dont know everything about government, and I like to read everyones veiwpoint on the subject. Between the banter, there is a ton of usefull knowlege.

he didn't do as well as usual, but he still posted profits all year. not as drastic as in the past but he still knew how to play the field, even in the mud and the rain

agreed. Since all these debatable threads are starting, i think i should start one about abortion and gun control.....

Count me in for closing political threads too cuz' its obvious we all don't share the same opinions. But, I will say that I'm reading a good book ya'll aught to check out called:
    by John Talbott.

You know what's interesting? Guess what lobbies contribute the most money to politicians ( and this includes both dems and repubs)?

    They are as follows:
    The National Association of Realtors
    The Mortgage Bankers Association
    The American Bankers Association
    Most major investment banks
    Freddie and Fannie Mac

So guess what happens when these industries give hundreds of millions of dollars every year to various campaigns of congressmen, senators, presidential candidates ( both Mccain and Obama)? Why- that allows these industries to run totally unchecked, unregulated, and unhampered so they could create this huge Ponzi Scheme.

This single aspect alone is the biggest reason that we are in the trouble we face. I for one am planning to do all I can to write to my representatives to put an end to lobbying period. It has NO business in politics.
