Pulled the trigger - bought a tonneau - Trifecta Signature series

After reading about 6,596 threads here abot tonneaus, I was filled with info. Too much info, in fact. And too many choices.

In the end I went with an Extang Trifecta Signature Series and opted for the canvas material version. I already have a convertible in the garage and reasoned the upkeep on the tonneau with the same material would be close to the same as the car.

It's a tri-fold design, essentially piling up onto itself right behid the cab. there are installed straps so you can buckle it down and drive with it open. It is not designed to fold up behind the rear cab window as some are. The positioning of clamps makes this impossible. I tossed my install tool (allen key) into the glove box on the off chance I want to remove the tonneau entirely to carry a large, unexpected load. The tonneau is easy enough to manage that this is a viable alternative.

I ordered it through our (Tacoma World's) prefered source - though on the phone with them they said they were unaware of any discounts for forum members. Maybe I was recalling something incorrectly, but I wasn't too worried as the total price came in roughly in the middle of my budget, so I was still happy.

It arrived within 3 days of being ordered (I was impressed). Just in time for me to leave town for a week, naturally...LOL

Last Saturday it took my wife and I all of 15 minutes to install it with the optional install kit I ordered for the cargo management system in the current gen trucks. Slid right in place, lined up the clamps and bam, done. I may tweak the rear clamps a bit to tighten the pressure on the spring, but we'll see if its even needed - so far, so good.

The rubber seal across the back of the cover, which meets the top of the tailgate when its closed fills the gap well.

The unit shipped with a bonus foam seal for sealing around the tailgate itself, inside the bed, but I don't think I'm going to use it for now. Maybe later, but so far its fine without it.

This cover is not going to seal out 100% of the elements, but covers the bed very well and looks outstanding. In fact, I am super pleased with the understated elegance of the thing on the truck.

The quality of the tonneau itself is excellent, its easy to manage by yourself, lightweight and keeps enough moisture out to handle even heavy Seattle rain. It looks fantastic, is easy to open and close. All components from the frame, to the install tool (allen key) to the extra cost install system ($21 IIRC) are easily worth the month as the high quality is obvious.

 

These are great covers.I have one also but not the signature series.Keeps out rain but the car wash is the only way water seems to get in and then only around the tail gate area.

Mine (a non signature model) served me well for 4+ yrs in all seasons here in Vermont. I sold it for $125 after I traded the truck in. It was well used but still fully functional.
I bought another one for my tundra.

I have the exact same cover. I have not bothered to put on the extra gasket. It keeps the bed dry and over the summer on a very long trip on dirt roads it kept much more dust out than the hard cover on my friends Tundra. This will be its first winter so we will see how that goes. I got mine from Auto Anything on one of their "special" sales which seem to happen almost all of the time.

 

I use the front of my bed for holding fishingpoles up in the air. Can I open this in the font and keep it close in th eback by the tailgate? Could someone provide a pic? When you open th eback, how many inches does the cover take in the front area?

Congrats on the new cover. I like you was overwhelmed with info on the site as to which cover to buy. In the final analysis I figured out what I wanted to do with my truck and bought a cover that worked for what I was going to carry. So far for the last two years the choice has been a nice one for me.

I picked out the Access LE.
