I agree, the new ones are pretty crappy. The older Punch HE2's (I think that was them) were fantastic.

I tend not to like "car audio" woofers, so I have absolutely no idea how a Punch woofer sounds, but I have generally found Pioneer amplifiers to be provide rated or above power, reliably, at a reasonable price.

I have the birth-sheet below for an admittedly older Pioneer amp (paid $179 IIRC) driving a newer set of Pioneer PRS component speakers from an Alpine head unit in a Toyota MR2. I would characterize my experience as being very happy with the amps performance -- for about 6 years now.

So, I guess I'd like to know why you find them to be garbage.

First up, 06SR5canada is a bit of a brand snob, and doesnt like them. Doesnt mean they are garbage.

The GM (non digital) ams are decent quality for the price, but nothing special.

The GM digital series are solid amps, that will do over rated power at 12v, in bench testing. They are low noise, high quality amps, at a great price.

The old PRS series you are rocking, those were something special.

Its correct. Those PRS amps were pure cheater amps, in the old school tradition. I think you can find some of the specs on the PRS720 as well over on DIY. I think those were up around 150-200wpc @4 ohms...

Holy crap man. That's unbelievable amounts of winning. It would be badass to enter a comp with "rated power classes" and have an edge like that. :D

I'd be down to pitch in for blueprints. Gonna attempt to build this box from scratch in a sealed version. Not sure where to start on the port tuning. A reference would b nice.

Go out to your truck with a couple pieces of cardboard, and start trimming. You will get it to fit then slide it along the rail to ensure it works all the way (or pull the driver side storage bin, and use the side of that as your template).

As to port tuning - dependent on the subs and air space available. WinISD is a good basic program to learn, and this page has a great write up:

If you have other questions, start a thread, there are several people here to help.

Also, you can contact ItalynStylion above, he builds boxes on occasion, and is in Irving.
