I wonder if camburg went to the single shear because of ball joint plate tolerances as well because the camburg spindles on my girlfriends tacoma are single shear as well and they are about a year and a half old maybe

You could be right, i didnt think of that. All ive read is that the original design by Allied was double sheared, then Camburg bought the design. I do know that there are people on here with double sheared Camburg spindles and even the website shows them double sheared. But i do believe that Total Chaos spindles are double sheared.

So what is the proper gap dimension supposed to be (between the upper and lower mounting points of the knuckle)?

    Thanks!

Now I have LR UCA's, Maxtrac Spindles, Eibach's, 5100's up front, Expos, 5160 for the rear, U Bolt Flip Kit, and Extended Brake lines.
    Maxtrac Bob,
    I have a few questions.

    1. When you said "They have to build several samples" on thread #201. What does that mean? Are you not casting them or are they made by a third party? USA or China?

    2. On your website, Why are you saying "you can achieve an additional 3" to 4" ", (speaking of lift). Well which one is it? I read that its approximately a tad more than 3.5. So Why dont you say these are 3.5 spindles?

Sorry, I dont want to come off as a hard ass but I want to get the facts straight. I am actually now considering your spindles, and only because of the price....??? But I will have to do some serious thinking and researching. Hope you guys get it fixed ASAP. While I have cash in my pocket.

Finally, Does anyone know how much actual lift the Camburg offer?

    Thanks.

    @ MAxTracBob,

Thank you so much for stepping into our groupbuy and setting the record straight for us. I am very satisfied by the actions you have taken to correct the issues presented. I am even more amazed by MaxTrac's proactivity in taking the current knuckles off the market. Bravo. This shows true commitment to quality and standards. You will definitely have my money when I'm able to spend again after the holidays as I ended up using my groupbuy cash on a GoPro after the groupbuy kinda died; If not in January, I'll be buying some of your spindles in February for sure. Thanks, MaxTracBob.

I to am Glad that Bob From maxTrac has responded and put my mind at ease! i still will be buying these spindles as i said before. I just installed some camburg spindles and the brake line didnt fit correctly and we needed to modify it slightly, so everyone has issues, weather they are a big name company or a company that many have never heard about! Maxtrac has my vote for sure!

Just to clear this confusion up our Tacoma 05-11 4.0 spindles have a single shear mount for the lower ball-joint/uniball. The original Allied's and some of our very first ones had a double shear mount before we revised the spindle design.

Reason we went to a single shear design is it seems like everyone's L/T uniball adaptors are different thicknesses and would require either different spindle setups or different spacers for the various kits out there. This way no matter what all our spindles will work 100% of the time stock or L/T and will interchange. With how thick our mount is and how its tied into the spindle you would rip the front of the truck off before it ever failed or bent.

    - Scott @ Camburg

P.S ... didnt come in here to spam our product, just clear up some facts.

    Ok for Question 1...
We do not do our own castings. I don't know of anyone that owns a foundry tht sells parts too. Anytime you build a part you need to make several pours of the casting to make sure the castings are correct then we do the machining and qc those finished parts to make sure the machining process is correct. The machining process is what we messed up on and this is what we are fixing. I hope that answers your question.

    For question 2
When we built the spindles we did not know for sure ( and since these were a new product) what the actual lift we were going to achieve. We knew it would be between 3 to 4 inches so that's why we did that. Now that we have the finished part we do know that the actual lift will be 3 3/4" lift.

I hope this helps and remember there are no bad questions and i'm glad to answer them all... Thanks
